I know it's a personal message, but I just feel that what he asked me in a PM is somewhat of a stupid question, asking me how can he enjoy a film if he is deaf?

because that I love that "ghost in the shell 2" movie and is most definetly a huge fan of the series, and he asked how can he enjoy it if he is deaf?

*sigh* just let me take a few deep breaths before I answer it...

Now, I'll answer this to Ravensteve and to the rest of the public at AD...

There is one way to enjoy the film...

Read the subtitles!

without subtitles, how can the deaf people enjoy a film without one?

that's what closed capitioning is for on TV shows and movies, and subtitles on forgien films for people who don't understand such language or of course, another reason for the deafies to read it also.

as I said before, the deaf culture is already taking over the world!

*evil chuckle*

*ahem* anyway, I would always enjoy movies more with closed caption/subtitles rather than without them.

yeah you can check ur local theatres where they show open caption movies and when.. also there's a Rear View mirror... more and more theatres are having those.

I'm not sure what website u can take a look.... ahem help me guys :|

Yeah theres no subtitles in theaters.
Dude, Ghost In The Shell 2 is on DVD... not theaters.

i dont bother to go to theater... its kinda a waste of my time in my opinion... i perfer to wait till dvd comes out then i buy the dvd and can watch that movie as many as i wish. :-P

Most dvds have subtitles and modern tv have closed caption... if u go into setup of the tv look for either closed caption or CC then select CC1

most shows will have closed caption

by the way that question is not stupid steel ravensteve is a new deaf he still think like hearing (since he cant accept the fact that being deaf is not so bad) so naturally he asks like some naive hearing people would ask.

Every two weeks here in Utah, or sometimes once a week, they show movies in SLC and Provo with open captions. But that doesnt stop me from going to regular cinema and watching movies, trying to guess the storyline of the movie. It gives me and my significant other something to discuss about, comparing my assumptions with what he heard from the film. It's fun and stimulates the mind to make up the storyline like in the good old days.

Kino subtitles once a month in Nürnberg. I did not drive to Nürnberg to watch kino with subtitles.

We have DVD with subtitles enough.

Yeah you rent from blockbuster and you pay SALES TAX! That goes to the liberal democratic programs which i dont feel like supporting.

um, that movie I saw in threatres was in japanese, and everyone was speaking in japanese throughout the entire film...and how do I understand those people speaking in japanese if I don't even speak their language, as well?

Think hard.

*hint hint* by reading the subtitles translated in English.

 I was going to comment on this, but that would make Steve's trolling expedition a success. So, I'll stay on topic.

Insight Cinema is the company that captions the movies for the theaters. I've seen a few open caption movies, and I think it is cool to get that theater experience of the large screen.
