Actually I feel sorry for the Moderators--Vampy, Jolie, SG--because two months is going to be a long time in coming! :lol:

I am looking forward to November--the one thing I noticed is that Palin's investigation will announce their findings on October 31.

Coincidence that it will be on Hallowe'en! It could be scary for the Republicans or for the Democrats. :lol:

Neither I nor other ADers are candidates. There is no reason we can't debate the issues without calling each rude names or using the "f" word over and over again.

You do have one suggestion that I might have to take up. It might be time for me to exit the kitchen. Not because I can't "take the heat" but because the stench in the kitchen is becoming unappetizing.

It's a tax, and it's paid by tax payers. No, it's not like a contribution to a retirement plan any more than paying the Social Security tax is a contributory "benefit." It's required by law for the "contributors". The IRS is not in the business of benefit packages.

Employees do not pay this tax or have it withheld from their pay.

It is paid by employers. It provides unemployment compensation to workers who have lost their jobs. Unemployment compensation is a benefit. That is why the BWC calls checks issued a "benefit check" and determines who is eligible for "benefits."

Guess what. Employers are tax payers, too.

They can call it anything they like but those "benefits" are paid for with taxes that are paid by taxpayers.

Taxpayers are no less taxpayers just because they are employers.

Yes, business owners are taxpayers, too. However the implication that began this discussion what that the unemployment benefits were taken directly from the employee's check. This is incorrect.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I stated that unemployment benefit is covered by tax payers. Someone (either brad or jillio) corrected me that it is paid by employer. Good catch there, Reba. Both employer and employee ARE tax payers.
 
I don't really care as long as I'm covered in case I get laid off again.

Collected them once. Don't want to go back to that.

Some of you have no problem to pay tax to support war issues, support low income/unemployment people with medicard, etc without including for yourself but problem with healthcare for all people including yourself? :hmm:

I work hard to pay tax for anyone and then plus extra pay insurance coverage for myself...? BIG Nooooooooo...

I really have no problem to pay social insurances and taxes because we all get treatment, not for just someone only without myself. I will also get full treatment as well when I´m out of work or pension. I also will get money from unemployment benefit and also social assistance when I´m out of work. I prefer to pay social insurances and taxes for ourselves over war issues and medicard for someone else.

McCain wants to tax health benefits paid by employers which mean means is raising taxes on American workers while he wants rich companies to get tax deductions.

huh? Who said we don't have problem to pay tax to support war issues? That is incredibly ignorant thing to say. It's not like we have a choice to choose where our tax money goes to. and no we don't pay tax DIRECTLY to war. But you know what? You paid for your gas, right? It is very nice of you to care about others at your expense but that just doesn't fly for me. I'm fine with government programs to fund and help them to find jobs and stuff but I do not believe in allowing poor people having equal benefits as the rich (especially health benefits). That's not just right and it's unfair. They can go move to Europe or a communist state if they want no class distinctions. Beside - they shouldn't complain. There are abundant of charity programs, churches, free shelters, free clinics, etc. it's better than nothing. The reason why people say it doesn't work well is because there are far too many leechers than the needy ones.

I understand that you live in a socialist state all your life so it's hard for you to understand the way of American life. You grew up being used to paying high tax, high gas price, and high etc. You're used to living with a very modest means. Just think of America as opposite of your lifestyle.

This whole social welfare program modeled after EU is just not going to work in here.
