Normal is just same as "good".

Do you understand about what is normal Muslims means?

Obviously, the answer to that question is "no".

I would say the Catholic Church's involvement in the Rwanda Genocide is a better example...

The genocidal activities in the Balkans as well... in the name of God.

True, true. And there are so many more.

It's much more than the Spanish Inquisition.

So much more. The further one seems to reach back in history, the stronger the correlation of denial of current activity.

Does that include ex-Muslims, too?

What exactly is an ex-Muslim? Really, koko, with that self proclaimed research background, you should be very familiar with operational definition.

Ahhh, yes. They are culturally bound. But can't the same be said for any social justice system?

It was actually very eye opening to have people of several different religious persuasion, including a Muslim, to offer interpretation as well as comparison to the books of other religions. So many similarities, whether the culture subscribes to Sharia law or not.

Social justice is a big topic, and one of the major challenges of the 21th century, indeed. It's on topics about gay and cheating I find some sharia practices in specific areas, horrible. I have only read the downsides of the sharia laws, so I am biased here. This is a reason I want to read the Quran, so I can discuss it with other indepedent muslim thinkers.

See there, souggy? The correlation of which I just spoke!

Too bad so many lives are lost... all lost to one Supreme Being, just because people couldn't agree who is prophet of and who is a false prophet.

And we will never know if their causes are justified or not.

Agreed. I, too, find sharia law quite disturbing in many facets. However, in comparison, there are those Christian groups that support their own version of sharia law in application to the topic of gays and cheating.

I applaud you for wanting to read the Quran and develop your own, informed, and educated opinion. And your willingness to consider the input of other thinkers, despite their particular religious persuasion. There is a reason you have always been one of my favorite posters.

My god is better than your god! :nana:

Juvenile and superficial, isn't it?

Interesting. Can also add the belfast conflict, the civil wars on the west coast of africa(around cameroon, ivory coast, nigeria etc), and east africa(Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia), southern islands of the phillipines, south america and latin america. Jesus Christ, a bloodthirsty bastard..
