Pay Up, @$$hole!

Honestly, I don't really trust those Palins...since there were alot of rumors with Sarah Palin quitting as the governor and her husband quit on his job as well and her daughter's ex bf tells the media that they were having money problems which seems possibly true...and I guess the young palin woman was demanding him to pay up child support since they were going bankrupted or whatever. I don't think money is the answer. father spending time with the child often as he could could be the correct answer.

Take that up with the judge. :) I don't know the full details.

Don't judge others, until you know what's going on-- even I am not sure what's going on because the person and his girlfriend (the girlfriend and I are close) is fighting to gain full custody of the kids.

If this man is working, and refuses to pay child support, becuz his wife abused him, then that's OK?? What did the kids have to do with this? Now the custodial parent more than likely has to seek state aid and food stamps. Another tax burden!

So many excuses from parents "not to pay their child support". No child should suffer, no child should fall thru the cracks, no child should be left behind.

Many parents give up their parental rights, and the child can be adopted and into a more safe and stable home. But that doesn't exclude the State from going after them for all the aid given to the child. That's done in Florida. And the parents SS and any property/wages they make.

yup! My ex tried to give up his rights to avoid paying child support, but the judge denied it.
Even when I agreed to it.

souggy mentioned also that the mother of those children are neglecting the children and the father is trying to get custody of them. It goes both ways....

The children's safety is first and foremost. It could also be that mother is not using the money to take care of her children. Ever thought of that?

You never know.....if you dont know the whole story....dont pass judgements.

Right but a judgement was passed in a court of law and he needs to comply.

Like I said, both Bristol and Levi are money-hungry. Only God know what she would spend $1,750 per month on for her child. Teenagers today. They are all, I want this, I want that, I want more! It's never enough for them.

Levi is a deadbeat father. Bristol is a spoiled brat. They both had sex and are now paying for their mistake.

Gladly, it's not my problem to deal with. Good luck to them because they'll need it!

I quoted you earlier on. :)

The case I am referring to is a military member of the United States whose hometown is in WA. They divorced. He paid child support, then started falling behind on it. Upon investigation, they (social services) found out that the two had a history of spousal abuse-- literally, the ex-wife was beating the man. So What happened? She ended up keeping the two kids; he didn't have to pay for child support anymore as a result of the investigation after a two-years court battle. The husband is now trying to get custody of the kids due to... some mother's neglect issues with the kids-- been going at it for 3 years now.

So... like I said-- it depends on the judge and lawyers find out-- regardless of public opinions.

Under most circumstances when a judgement is made for the father to pay for child support he should own up to it. Not become a deadbeat Dad. I'm sure everybody understands that here already and not try and paint this as a "broad picture."

Right!....IF the mother is not using the $$ for the kids (spending it on other things, etc.), then the father has the right to take it back to court. With proof of it. But the father still must pay the support, the kids have to eat, etc. It's the kids that are suffering for what "the parents are doing".

Understood. If this is occurring, the father in this case would have to take it up with the court but first things first, meaning the original intent of this thread.

I don't care who you are or who you know or are related to. If you father a child then you need to man up and do the right thing. Period!!! Pay up @$$HOLE!!

If it wasn't for Sarah Palin, I don't think Levi would be in his position today. He would still live in that small town in ALaska.

Bristol has nothing to do with the child support amount, Each state has guidelines that judges follow for child support amounts. She is perfectly within her rights to hold Levi accountable.

The irony is young Levi would not be worth a dime if it were not for this baby. Hey can thank the baby for all of his income.

*shrugs*

It's true that Levi wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for the fact that Sarah Palin was a governor and a running mate of McCain's during the presidency election.

There's always going to be people like Levi out there.

The non-custodial parent should always provide monetary child support. The money is for support of the child. It doesn't matter what the parent did or didn't do; it's not the child's fault.

If the custodial parent is not using the money properly for support of the child, then the other parent can apply for custody, such as the father in your example. Or they can request someone be assigned to the family by the court to manage the funds.

In the situation about the military father, he would have a better chance to get custody if he had continued the child support all along. That would prove his intent to be a responsible father. If he was "falling behind" because he couldn't afford child support, how will he prove to the court that he can now "afford" fully custody of the children?

Sounds like my brother. He finally won custody, and now the mother is refusing to pay child support after my brother paid up for it religiously for 7 years.
The mother needs to pay up.

Is the court enforcing the requirement for child support?

From what I can understand, the workers responsible for the case want him to get legally married to his commonlaw before they hand the kids over... but he doesn't want to re-marry. But that's a separate issue from child support.

Separate issue from child support, true. Could have a bearing on child custody decision though.
