No Saturday Mail?

Yup, most of ebay and Amazon shipping are from USPS.

I don't accept packages by USPS......don't send them that way either.....I always ship with UPS. Just my preference.....to each their own.

I work with the po in a private mail room. I have worked like this or in similar situations since 14 years. That being said, I do not pay any bills or send cards, checks or money orders in the mail. No way. I pay all - 100 percent of my bills online. I use the best company to do this. I can send money to an individual, a business or even a dentist, etc. I have had one problem in the 4 years I have done this. I sent the payment company an email. Problem solved. I got an email the next day with the problem solved. Period. I stopped my junk mail, dont order magazines, and am very surprised when anything is in my mail box, except my neighbors mail. (no, the carrier goofs it up all the time) What few things I could not avoid getting usps, like ebay stuff, 1/3 of the orders are lost. When I complained to the po, they sent me a message telling me to keep my kids off the streets. (I have no kids at home).
So see, its my fault that they are losing money. In this area, I would never, ever, send anything important in the mail.

I'm sorry but the UPS is a crook. They charge a fee of $50 and up for brokerage whenever I receive something from the USA even if it's a gift. No matter what the cost is, it's always at least $50. I always end up having to tell them I will not pay for gifts, they usually come back the next day and waiver the fee though. UPS is a dishonest company and shouldn't be trusted. At least I get accurate custom fees from USPS, they're more honest since they aren't in it to make money.

For your information, everyday UPS stop at our PO and drop off the packages for us to deliver.

There is always hope. If enough people get together and boycott chronic junk mailers we could get them to go away.....So what if it brings down the cost of mail a little. It's horrible for the environment and it's a nuisance
It might be "junk" to some people but obviously it's profitable for others because a business wouldn't continue the mailings if they weren't working. Someone is responding to the mailings.

Do you mean if someone sends you a package via USPS you disregard their shipping preference and refuse their package? If yes, then why?

I'm sorry that mail service is so bad in your area.

In my almost 59 years of life, I can't recall ever having anything lost in the mail, to or from me. Hubby and I receive checks in the mail from our clients, many packages from on-line shopping, and packages related from Hubby's business.

We had a couple of complaints about one mail carrier a few years ago. We made a complaint to the Post Master at the local Post Office, and the problem was resolved ASAP.

people still read magazines these days??? the paper version??? :eek3:

Several reason why magazine would win over digital like... it's because you won't allow to read while in airplane on take off or on landing. :D

I don't like UPS, if anyone live the house, they leave it at front outside if you're not home. If live apartment and anyone is actual home, they didn't bother to knock to tell that you have package, they left the slip note that they leave it at the apt office.

I always hate it when they do that.

by paying online... they waste hundreds if not thousands of dollars on electricity, broadband service, and computer

OH pulllease! The computers were on ANYWAYS , so might as well make it useful. I say its better online then snail. You have more control over finaces which is more important in this recession thing we having now.

I support no sat mail- no need to get mail on sat. Makes it easier not to worry if thieves check mailboxes while we are gone for weekend. Its fine with me to leave postoffice open on sat, but we need more services available without the darn postmaster. I want to weight my own stuff without people behind me and make decision whats best postage to put on it.

No need to have more shifts to cover 6 days. 5 days is good, better labor relations. since less and less letters are being delivered, a couple more on fri or monday won't hurt anybody.

IF post office DOES go bye bye, then I suspect that other carriers like UPS, DHL coulde/will pick up the slack and add letters/postcard service. They seem to provide better service anyways. This way , I have no worries about mailing X-mas cards in dec.

:hmm:I have never had a problem with UPS.....I have had many problems with USPS....guess everyone has a different experience.

I don't have any problem with USPS, except for slow delivery but worth for just cheap price.

I live in rural area and still get mail from mailbox from my home everyday, except for Sunday.

I like UPS also but they have some issues with delivery sometime.

UPS and FedEx international shipping price is too expensive. USPS Priority shipping price is cheap. but delivery service is slow over 5 days or more. This cheap price is worth.

Do you mean if someone sends you a package via USPS you disregard their shipping preference and refuse their package? If yes, then why?

Well no, I mean when given a shipping preference I pick UPS of FedEx.

Why? Many reasons.

1) I have had packages lost through USPS
2) I like tracking packages....all packages
3) I have had equipment damaged by USPS and they are impossible to work with
4) I have experienced the exact opposite of PowerOn. UPS knocks...My mailman doesn't

5) I have a fundamental problem with the USPS ability to ship packages. The USPS was founded as a government agency necessary for communication between government and it's citizens. In the 70's the USPS switched to a hybrid private/public business. A business that was expected to be sustainable by it's products and services but ultimately backed by the US government. This came about in part because there was an ever blurring line prohibiting government's ability to compete with the private sector. Basically it was an end run by the government.

While UPS or FedEx may cost me a few cents more, it is worth it to me. I like the service provided by UPS and I like that I am dealing with a private sector business. That's just me though.

I am with mine. I use USPS all the time. I ship USPS. cheap and fast.

Completely satisfied. I like USPS the best of all shipping options, and I will always pay a few extra dollars to have my package shipped priority rather than UPS or something. USPS always delivers at the same time, never loses your packages, and has convenient locations everywhere. (With FedEx or UPS, you have to drive out to the airports or industrial districts to get your goods.)

Personally, I don't understand why the US Mail is not taxpayer funded. It's a public service, just like infrastructure and education.

I think we just need to accept the fact that there is not a way to make everything profitable. 5 Billion a year is chump change for such a vital service, and it provides tons of jobs. Let's just have better management and less waste in it.

I guess it depends on what you ship. When I have a club go dead or break (thats what I normally ship) and I need to know that the new club will be there before the next tournament round......cost is a minor issue.

USPS done the same thing to me too. that is, leaving packages in the front door if it doesn't fit in the mailbox. In fact, I was upset when I found out they have been giving my mail to my relative next door because of the snow. I told him not to do that anymore. AND I keep getting other people's mail and packages.
