Mom who glued toddler's hands to wall gets 99-year sentence

Not meaning to be rude but until you see pictures of the child you would not believe what this woman did. Most people see the term: "glue hands together" and think that is all that happen.
However, the child suffered much more serious injuries (i.e. in a coma). I would accept 50 years.

I'd accept expiring behind bars.

I had a 2 year old and her mother stay with me all last week. I can understand the frustration of raising a toddler that runs around everywhere breaking things, spilling things, throwing things, grabbing things, and if you can't handle it - don't have kids.

A friend of mine has a little boy with autism. His room is covered in crayon scribblings from his height down (even the carpet). My friend had to develop quite a unique sense of humor to deal with it - and he is a great father. I doubt he will be getting his security deposit back ;)

Guess what I am giving his little boy for Christmas?

A huge box of crayons

Yeah, 2 and 3 years old is one of most nightmares of all age development. It is almost impossible to avoid at this stage. Both of my sons were and still breaks and doing some mess and leaving behind for somebody to trip over. Frustration exists and I am still frustrated with my baby son. Grrrr! I love him very much and can't image hurting him at all. I tend to spank when my son trying to do something that would hurt him even more than spanking itself. Like trying to jump out of window, that is when I would spank and warn him not to do that again. Using Crazy glue is not acceptable.
Its official, my last son is the last baby we have. No more kids, we realize that we are getting too old for another baby. :(

Why do his parents keep non-washable crayons available to him? They do make washable ones now. Also, they could have installed a wainscoting of scrubable material or white board that could later be easily removed. Some crayon can be steam cleaned out of carpet but maybe he should have vinyl flooring or Pergo.

I hope you're kidding about the Christmas gift. If you really want to get them something, see my suggestions above.

The same woman who raised the abusive mother? :hmm:

Just because you're raised a certain way, doesn't mean you'll act the way you were taught. Her mother may have raised her with love but this woman is responsible for herself and her own actions. The sentence is just, but I feel for all the children that are violated and their perpetrators get nowhere near the sentence they should. There should be no tolerance for crimes against children.

Not a week goes by in Texas where there is not a report of serious child abuse. I can recall during the year several cases of starving a kid, shaking to death a kid, even a JUDGE whipping his daughter on video (Mom did not try to stop it!) and other terrible things done to kids.
Most of the parents have the usual excuses (i.e. the economy, single mother situation, etc.) but (IMO) the real reason is that these "parents" should never have become "parents" before they were prepared in ALL abilities to raise a child.

My point is: If you can't feed them, don't breed them.
If this keeps up, it could lead to one of two movies... Demolition Man and Idiocracy.

In Demolition Man, you have to have a license to get pregnant.

In Idiocracy, the smart people were cautious when it came to having kids and the stupid people weren't cautious when it came to having kids. As a result, idiots were breeding faster than the smarties... resulting in the world being run by idiots.

That scenario has already happened. The end result is known as "Massachusetts."

I hope the grandmother was thoroughly checked out, just to be safe, and that social services keeps an eye on things.

Her daughter was sexually abused, joined a gang and used drugs while still a minor. I realize that can happen in even the best homes but it is a red flag. If the grandmother still lives in the same environment and hangs with the same people, that could be a problem.

Also, the grandmother didn't notice any child abuse or report any problems prior to this final crime? Apparently some of the kids were old enough to verbalize the situation, yet grandma was unaware?

Something to be careful about.

Most newer carpets are treat with strong anti-stain technology and easily to clean it, but if crayons use oil based so it is big disaster to polyester carpet because oil is too difficult to wash off, so that why I love nylon carpet.

As christmas gift, high quality toys are best for children.

Was the mom on meth? I mean gaw d, abusing your own kid just bc they had potty training problems? He'll, maybe this might be a good thing.....maybe then this way her kids can grow up in an emotionally healthy way.

It's deeper than potty training with this woman - that's just what she said but from what her children have told authorities, it didn't take much to set her off. I just hope the grandmother can provide for them, if not, it'd be better to place them with family for their protection.

Yes, I was kidding about giving him a box of crayons. I am giving it to his dad as a "gag gift". We share the same sense of humor.

He will look at the box of crayons and say "GAWD!" out of recognition from the both of us scraping and cleaning the room, re-painting etc. then start to giggle.

Seriously, there are SO MANY people that want nothing more than to LOVE a child to call their own, and then theres people like HER who takes her miracle for granted as a rag doll. I don't think the punishment is unfair at all. A child deserves to live in the mind and eyes of a child, not forced into something worse.

watch -- she will get her hands glued to wall in prison and business taken care of in the rear.... nuff said ..

I'll accept mother be in jail until her child become 18 to make decide to forgive her or make restrict order.

Having her arse glued to the cell bars might be a good idea here....this woman should never, ever be allowed to birthe children, or even be around them.....

Feel she might need an MRI on her brain to see if anything is seriously wrong...(brain tumor, etc.)....
