People have been venting their bad experiences with this, that, him, her, it, whatever.

So i dontknow if this is worth enough to announce and so many of you don't know me personal but know my alias so why the hell not?

I am engaged.
No i haven't decided on the wedding date, and the ring I got right now is the black fat ring I brought a while for to be my "temporary" ring until he gets me a nice one.

I never knew I was supposed to decide the date the second we are engaged. I was like, "um, the whole point of engagment is to promise each other for life"... not the size of the ring, not the date, et cetera. It just EVENTUALLY will happen for us to get married and we just acknowledged it and let people knowing it, that is all.

Ooo...congratulations to you. :) There's no real rush in deciding on when to have the wedding -- just spend some time talking that over with your significant other and decide when is the best day and time for the beautiful wedding and premises for it, etc. ;)

Congrats! Take time and see if hes mr right for you. Don't need to rush into get married too soon. I made HUGE MISTAKE by got enganged like 2 months after I dated someone from school, and then engangement ended 4 months later. For me, I rather to take it slow and know that person better before I can get enganged too and for trustworthy's sake. I don't want anything to go wrong such as get abused later in marriage life... that is my experince with engangement.
 
Congrats on your engagement. You're right, no reason to set a marriage date!
 
WTG, Gnarly—congratulations. :thumb: My girlfriend and I are also taking the marriage thing very casually. We’re going to elope to Las Vegas next month and not tell anybody, even our families. Neither of us gives a shit about a big church wedding, so we’re just going to have fun and do the Elvis thing. I told her that I would try to find my Captain Crunch Spy Decoder ring that I had when I was five. She told me where I could shove it and said that she had a ring lying around somewhere that we could use until I can afford to get her a decent sized rock. We’ll eventually have a ceremony in front of our friends and family, but for now we’re just going to do a quickie wedding and spend 3 days in Sin City drinking and gambling. :beer:

Yeah, you're not expected to set a date right away.... some people do that, and I don't know how they can do that (unless they have already talked about it before). Just take it casual and then the "right" date will come to you. I was previously engaged, and never set a date neither. He wanted a 'quickie' wedding, I said "Absolutely not" -- so we were engaged for about one and half years before I broke it off for good reasons.

Congrats! He seems like a wonderful gentleman!

1994.... We were 1st propsal and accept goforth for wedding but scared within few days.. I decide turned it down for 1st propsal and willing accept being engaged which I have good reason because we were in relationship for a year because got preggy (My daughter) that time. I'd rather slow down and when find right time. We stayed together as "common law" for few years and realized that we are contuines relationship more seriouis and decide to have seriouis wedding incoming the way.. Until 2nd propsal I did asked him.. Go Ahead I do willing anything marry you because still in relationship very longest year ever I had. We worked hard and goal become success our wedding was dated: July 7 2001.
 
congrats ganr. I know rushing doesn't always work!!! take ur time and u ll find that right day! :)

As for levoian make sure u don't forget ur sidebar beards LOL :)

anyhow :) take it easy and have fun thats all i can say cuz life's short don't worry abt what others say let U and ur man decide when u want to be married,. and tell the parents on both side not to worry abt the time zone. just go with the flow :)

Congrats!! Can I be your priest? *Mumbling wedding vows*. I will get you guys an ASL Elvis at a wacky wedding chapel. Let me do the works for you. Oh, I heard that BBNT is really a Elvis with sign language skills.. Let's ask him here if he accepts my offer to be there to witness your elopement. JK

Oddball are you still in sin city? Mebbe you can get to witness Levonian's Elvis wedding hehehe... I did tease Imp saying we could get a quickie by Elvis in sincity, and he flipped me the finger. :P To this day I still tell him I want to name our future child Elvis just to get a raise out of him.
 
congrats on ur engagment, It's no hurry to set up ur marriage date. You have to follow ur heart and see how it goes, then u may be ready in near future. Have a great engagement. :)

Thanks for the offer of the ASL Elvis, but my girlfriend doesn’t know ASL. I just hope the batteries in her CI don’t go out in the middle of the ceremony. Ever since she got implanted she’s stopped speechreading, and now she’s starting to forget how to do it!

You’re all going to be invited to the wedding, though—we’re going to have a live web cam broadcast. And anybody who happens to be in Vegas is more than welcome to come. We haven’t set a date yet, but it will be sometime in August.
 
congrats! it's no reason to be married right away once u get engaged so enjoy being engaged til u feel ready to get married! have fun ;)
