Is there like an international sign language?

Ive seen bsl... asl... isl (israli sighn language) and i was wondering if there was like an international language)..... i get finger tied so im useless at sighn langueage..... so i m not to clear on it

so is there like a standard? and if not why not? ;) :P
 
Just like the spoken language, there is no international or universal language except body language.
 
pah...... we should be able to go to any country and know exactly what deaf people are saying :P

Attempts to create an international signed language have never been very successful. The only one currently in use is Gestuno. Gestuno, however, is not a real language because is has no grammar—only a vocabulary.
 
That's one of the reasons why we had
DeafWay International and World Federation conferences
trying to agree on this or that. Based on
my assumption that Gestuno is same as
Gesture. Generally, I think that gestures/body language
do have some success on basic conversations
but it cannot fully succeed in depth conversations.

I can travel all over the world using
the simple Gesture "Do you want to sleep with me?"
using my eye contact and facial expression
just like my avatar right here...
(har har, just kidding ha :)
 
hmmm I saw an international sign language being in used in a huge deaf conference in Australia a few years ago. Someone brought a tape to a deaf even here and we all watched it
 
I dunno about international sign language though but there is an international gesture, I believe. Like drink, pee, eat, list go on.

And don't forget that math is international "language" and universal as well :P

Yeah, I think you're right. There is more like "international gestures" than "international sign language". Language is something you can't expect to be international.
 
its only in the past year ive gotten hearing aids, when i was 7 the doctros damaged my ears... apaperntly you arent suposed to syringe kids ears... anyways since i was seven my heairngs become worse... now im 19.. and i demanded a hearing test... and baddaboom ive got both hearings aids... because ive coped since i was seven with out help ive learnt to lipread realy well..... aso i never realy thaught of sighnlanguage... because i live in england the stuff i did pick up on off an english teacher in school is bsl... but i know a bit of asl and isl (israli s/l)

i think i know enough to introduce myself... get me something to eat... and spell what ever i need

i get finger tied witht he simple stuff.. so im screwed LOL

Actually, THERE is ISL (International Sign Language) as it is called now. GESTUNO is not really used anymore, but ISL is a very new movement and popular throughout the world EXCEPT in America, of course.
 
what is that word meaning? syringe? I;m learning everyday smile :D
i started losing hearing when i was 2years old due to menigits. it gets worse over the years till i'm 11.. i'm now serve to profoundly deaf :D

this is what they used to use on ears till quite recently... i dont know how to explain it... so i found a pucture
 
I know few in russian sign language, 2 words in mexican/spanish sign language, i thiink that it is all I know.
