Is that true that short women have babies early?

I am only 5 foot 2 and I weigh 132 lbs now and I am almost 25 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) I heard it could cause premature bec of the height u are and that you was thin? I weighted 110 lbs before I was pregnant by the way.
 
It's possible. I have a friend who's 5 ft tall and is very thin. They had to sew something to help hold the baby in due to its tremendous weight. She looked like she swallowed a beach ball!

Why don't you check online or with doctors. It does sound like a possibility due to the baby being more then the body can handle. :dunno:
 
No,...I am 5'4" and I didn't have any early labor with any of my three children...

No It is not true I am 5'3" tall and I had both of my boys at full term of pregnancy so no it has nothing to do with being Short.. Maybe very skinny like toothpick and short possible...
 
Oh tell that to me. My wife is almost 6" and she had our daughter 2 weeks before her due date.
 
the doctor who handled my twins said they would be born early because
their mother is only 5 feet tall and the twins would have no room to grow. He said women who are short and carrying multiple babies usually will have them early. I have never heard that about anyone just having one baby thou.
 
no i dont believe short women would have their babies early if its a one child pregnancy as opposed to having multiple kids (twins, triplets and more)
 
nah, My sister is only 5'2 ft tall and got huge baby.. 9lbs and 81/2 oz
wonderful my nephew and growing so extremelly tall boy now.. whoa.. He beat my height.. He is 5'9ft tall and 12 years old and will be 13 yrs old on May 29th. Unbelivable.. ((chuckles))
Only I'm height pretty normal 5'7ft tall.
 
I think it is a myth.

I was 5'5, 100pds when I got pregnant with my twin girls. I had no complications at all. The doctors induced (forced) labor, because they suspected twin to twin transfusion, which is common with identicals. After I delivered the girls, they apologized, and said there was nothing wrong.
I was slighly peeved.
At the same time I was kind of glad, I didn't want to gain any more weight.
I went from 100 to 170, in 34 weeks. The total weight of my girls was 8 pounds.

My cousin's wife, is 6 feet tall, medium build. When she got pregnant, with one child she didn't go full term. With her second pregnancy she went into labor two months early.

So, I personally don't think size matters.

Last thursday (Jan 29th).. My bro and his wife found out that she is dilated and her baby's head is right there.. but she is only due on April 11th.. She had to be in bedrest.. until this thursday to see any change, if change, she will have to go hospital... It's her 2nd baby but her first baby was almost same thing but less 2 months earlier.. she had to bedrest, and made it.. So, we (whole family and their friends) are sharing to take turns to help them out with their 1st son (16 mo old)... by the way.. she isnt short.. she is 5'6 and slender.. athelic.. (sp) LOL

I feel so bad for them.. most of my family/relatives/friends have pregnacy problems even some of them have birth defects.. I dont have problems just less mild with last 2 plus this one.. that i have low iron, and neasua pretty much... *sigh*.. I know I am grateful but its not fair for them though.. all the matters prayers are much needed..
 
I am 5 ft and 4" both of my two sons born ten days earlier than Dr's expect! First one was born natural 9 lbs and 8 oz. Second one was born natural 7 lbs and 10 oz. Both of them are in good healthy.

How long did your twins stay in the hospital for? As for their health, how is it?My twins were born at 34 weeks. The doctors said that because they were born premature, their health would be at risk, their teeth, and brains etc. I found that they were way off in left field. Perhaps it's their way of preparing you for the worst. Honestly I wish they wouldn't do that. I would never want to relive that pregnancy, it's pretty tough seeing your own kids in incubators etc

The twins were born at 29 weeks they had what is called “twin to twin tranfusion syndrome. What happens is that there is a tube that runs between identical twins and one twin starts to feed the other twin all its blood. When this happens the twin getting all the blood can’t handle it so the baby starts to urinate which increases the Amniotic fluid in the womb.

Because of this their mom gained 12 lbs in 24 hours which put tremendous pressure on her spine. She had to go to the hospital where the doctors preformed an amniocentesis. What they did was insert a long needle into the mother’s stomach and drain some of the fluid to take some of the pressure off their mom’s spine.

It seemed to work but it had 1 side effect, the stress caused one of the waters to break and not long after that they saw signs of infection so the doctors decided it was time to take them out. They preformed a c-section and Briana was the first one out. She was beet red and when Brittany came out she was white as a ghost. It wasn’t hard to figure out who gave the blood to who.

Briana was 3lbs 4oz she has to have blood taken out; she stayed in the hospital 4 weeks. Brittany was 2lbs 4oz she had to have blood put in and she was also born with a hernia {I didn’t know girls could have hernias}. Brittany stayed in the hospital 6 weeks and the total hospital bill was $57,000 dollars all covered by insurance {thank goodness}.

At 16weeks old they preformed a routine hearing test on the kids and we found out Brittany was deaf.. The cause most likely was low birth weight and lack of blood.
 
$57,000!? Damn! That's why I think hospitals are rip-offs! :fu2:
 
Gawd $57,000!! Gee.. I am glad that your insurance covered hospital bills completely!! Whew!
 
I don't think that's true.. I'm short too, 5'4" and had both of my 2 sons in full term..no complications at all. I think it varies to any women..not just short women. ;)
 
Thats quite interesting... I dont know abt that situation. Im 4'8 but NOT yet pregnant myself (as I would want one one day eventually). But the thing is Im also worried abt myself carrying one as I have a condition called scolosis (a spine that shaped as S curve). It is only mild condition for me.

what are hernias? never heard of that word
 
I think that no two pregnancies are the same. Short women are known to have whoppers of babies, and are just as likely to have bigger babies as a woman who is 5'7. :) A lot of it depends on the man, too...it kinda speaks for itself if he's 6'5 and she's 5'3. LOL. But ehhhh...like I said...all women are different, so it's not always the way you see it in articles or journals.

For the record though, I'm 5'1. :)
