*sigh*

let's begin Deaf Culture 101, shall we? Quite a handful of ADers are/were on social security benefits. Nothing shameful about it. Nothing embarrassing about it. Being disabled isn't cheap. Pretty much a lot of us have had a form of financial assistance from government under disability acts. They paid for my college. But based on your posts, you're spinning it to make it sound like it's embarrassing so let's stop this silly farce, shall we?

Now the point is - this social security benefits, Civil Rights, ADA, Women's Rights, Disability Act of 1973, Fair Housing Act... all these wouldn't be possible without the Democratic Party.

so I ask again - I think it is good idea to recognize what the Democratic Party has done for us in the history, don't you agree?

Yup, that's right and in next month, I will start live on SSI in next month but not full SSI until March so my last day of job at wal mart will be in next week.

why are you going to leave walmarT?

because I'm full time student at college and very hard for me to catch up the assignments when have job, even part time because I have alot of assignments that need take more time to finish, other reason about my health reason because I got very sick every month after started work at wal fart in after Christmas 2006, especially sinusitis, sore throat, ear infection, headache every month so I'm getting tired about go see doctor and my body may become resistance to antibiotic, that leading me to make decide to not work at retail, fast food or restaurant anymore, I wouldn't apply in 3 kind of place to work but clean retail may okay.

I got fed up with wal fart due shitty managers and 4 people in my shift got fired on last Sunday due absence and unable to reach the hour per aisle so I never like job at wal fart so many are retail, fast food and restaurants are trashy job.

btw - I see that you're :applause: for anybody who is gunning against Democratic Party. Are you sure you want to do that? because let's assume majority of American history is run by Republicans.

That means you, me, ADers, and all other deaf/disabled people would not be having any generous accommodations, Civil Rights, and financial assistance. I believe that you are currently receiving social security disability benefits. You would not be receiving it now if it were not for Democratic Party. You would be placed in Mental Ward.

I believe in a fair balance of all parties together. I will vote for any competent person to the seat - regardless of his/her political affiliation (except Socialist Party). Be careful what you say Be careful what you wish for.

Time Out!

If by civil rights you mean the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the voting by party is below. I admit I was surprised by this too. But I agree with you that I vote for the best person for the job as I see it. This past year I voted for Wendy Davis, democrat, here in Tx. Her GOP opponent was scum imo.

But Rehab act of 73 introduced By a Republican and Signed by Nixon

ADA of 1990 Singed by Bush.

And way more Republicans voted for (by percentage)the 64 act than Democrats.

Both approved of it though so both did a good thing. Thats my point. Too bad the parties don't work together like they once did.

The two-party system is a monopoly on politics and it's killing America.

Well, in 1960's, there's many conservative democrats in southeast US that hate black people.

It is known as Dixiecrat.

They weren't really conservative although that's what the text books say. They were just Racist. They voted with Democrats on issues not involving race and civil rights.

the "father of disability-related laws" - the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was introduced and signed by Democrats.... and then... more disability laws and amendments cropped up in pretty much every Administration - both Democrats and Republicans. That alone shows that one should not wish for one party to be much more dominant which can lead to a single-party country.

Agreed.

:ty: to Republican Presidents who signed it.

But then.... this would never happened if the Civil Rights Act of 1964 wasn't signed first. Like I said - it's the father of all disability-related laws.... and pretty much every Administration has signed some disability-related act added to Civil Rights Act of 1964 which was introduced and signed by Democrats :)

so Democrats and Republicans..... can we :grouphug: ?

Based on what? Do you have sources? Or is it just an opinion of yours with nothing to back it up?
