Is MSN bad for you?

I've never had problems with MSN cuz I used Trillian when using AIM, YIM, MSN, and ICQ.

The last time I actually used AIM on a daily basis was 2002 before I switched to Trillian. :)
 
Didn't have problem with hotmail and msn messager ect.. I usually avoids download and open suspicious attachment. I know what attachment file ends with. My lappy and basment pc hardly had virus cuz I have antivirus.

Suggestion. If you don't want to screw ur pc, Why not run VMware!!! lol. Install XP inside your vmware and then run without antivirus and log in website "naked"!! You'll don't have to worry about infecting your pc that runs on virtual pc. I've done that to go in some website that are loaded with viruses. I ran it and infected virtual pc then I delete the crapped out XP from that in a seconds. LOL. I luv it!!

Or run LiveCD Linux of your choice and check MSN from there. Linux cannot read Virus code so no worry.

I love MSN !! and you can invitepl for group chats pretty unreal.
It is secure, imo it is secure as your wits...if youre dumb enough to open accept infected files -its your fault. Be viligent even with your retarded family members when they send emails. It is becomes insecure if you get passed around in some infected files...... and my hotmail is pretty good, I just block out the unwanted stuff, havent tried gamail , i shall try tht after Uni... (I dont like learngn computer stuff WHILE i study the real thing during the year)
 
I used MSN for long time ago. I don't like it because there were so many junks in my hotmail but I didn't open it. I don't need MSN. I use yim and aim messenger that's all I have.
 
I know that almost European and other countries always use Hotmail and MSN messenger because having different languages versions.

Yup, I have some British and Asian friends that use MSN only due better feature to them.

No, It's my stepdad is a dummy about computer. He never had a computer until 2002. He is only 68 years old now. When I lived with my mom for a several month. It was happened with his MSN email cause virus through to my login. That was how I got virus at my email.

My husband helped him to clean up the computer. I was dumb to download many programs without my stepdad know. My husband taught me not do install for program without my stepdad's permission. I realized. I made mistake.

Last years ago, My friend kept sent me an attachment file. I didn't know she had virus on her aol. My husband got mad at me. He said don't let open the attachment. I was like huh? I asked to my friend if she have an anti-virus on her computer. She said yeah. I think my husband is paranoid. I was confusing. Why I can't open the attachment through my hotmail? But I have no problem with Gmail.

He don't let me read my friend's email with link and pictures. He is worrying about virus attack on our pc. I can't read my friend's emails with pictures and links. :( I am feeling it's control.

When I sent him a link of news for simple. It's not a virus. He refused to click on blue text link to open. He copied the link and paste on google box to see if it's no virus. :roll: He is smart ass! He gave me a hard time! I was frustrated!
 
My first MSN Messenger was 4.6 that bundled with 2001 version of XP (no SP), it was very simple and little unstable when compare to latest version, such as 6 and 7.

Now, it's replaced into Windows Live Messenger.

I have MSN Messenger on Mac OS X too, it works fine and have use hotmail via Firefox 3 due outlook style but not work on Safari, I haven't get any problem with hotmail either, hotmail was my first email, before gmail is release on public.

Pinky, you can get viruses from AIM if you open the infected file from anyone whoever send it.

Not that I know of, I rarely go on MSN or AIMS or Yahoo. I'm too busy to have time to sit and chat with people. I don't like to put them on hold, so I just don't go on it much anymore. :)
 
Well I do have MSN Messanger for chatting with one of my sis in laws or my nieces only with the exception of a few folks... thats all.. I use AIM wholely and also once in a while I check my Hotmail addys for emails and etc.. and do delete crap emails except if there an email from a family member such as a cousin I can check on that.. as for email, I do have Gmail which is a really good one...
 
Yes, Hotmail sucks big time! Never use it anymore since several years.

Yahoo email has one advantage... anti-virus scanning before downloading.
 
Nothing happen to my computer. We never install Anti-Virus on all computers.
Many times, I use MSN for email or any news.
Just simple to stay away from junk games or strange email.
 
MSN is no worse than AIM or Yahoo IM or ICQ etc. All IM are the same and you want to basically use the same common sense not to accept or open strange files from the users unless you know what the file is exactly for.

Same common senses as email attachment too ..

I haven't use MSN or Hotmail much these days. Just had enough hassles from MSN in the past and a few of my buddies on the list got break in and used their account. I rarely check hotmail because 99% of the time is spams so I don't really bother going there.
 
I haven't use MSN messenger for ages. I do still use hotmail to check email sometimes. (I use gmail more.)

That what my husband warned me. You're same as my husband's mention about AIM with direct connect with file. It's make sense. My friends tried to send me for accept or decline on picture through AIM. I clicked declined. They were like "why you declined my send you a picture of myself?" I told them it can cause virus. They said it's can't be possible. They think it's bullshit. I told them, I have to listen and respect to my husband's recommended me.
