I would take it to the police to report it, so they can claim whoses money it belonged to. I wouldn't dare to take the $50,000 without reporting who it belongs to, if no one claims it, it's probably mine, who knows. That is probably never gonna happen to find $50,000 laying in front of my eyes anytime in the future.

If I can't track the owner of the bag or any like idenfity of the owner with the bag. Then I'll keep it and the I buy a new car. The officers will just uses those money for their department if they cannot find the owner of the bag.

Anyway with me If I found 50,000 in a bag, I would take it to the police department. Why? because it's somebody's money it could be stolen, it might be random money. (How would it feel when you recovered on the news about a little girl got killed for 50,000.00 but the money turn up missing) I bet that would make your heart sank wouldn't it?

Use your common sense next time please. If you cannot find the owner of the bag and you can keep it because it is not called as stealing and it is called finding the treasure.

Imagine if someone left the food on the street and you have to take it to the police department because it is not your right?

How can you locate "an owner" when there is nothing on the tag? Are you going to knock on each door to find out who's 50,000.00 is it?

When you found something that doesn't belong to you, You don't call that stealing? :laugh2:

If it's food on the street? Why would I want to eat something that was on the ground? :-o

Forgot to add one more thing, You call that "treasure" even if you couldn't claim the owner, What if it's dirty money Is it still a treasure to you?

You have to take the money to the police because they have better ways to find the rightful owner. You can't do it by yourself. You know that a large amount of money is important to someone, and will be missed by someone. It belongs to someone else, not you, until all legal channels have been pursued to find the rightful owner.
 
Not only to mention that the money may be marked. You can get into trouble if you get caught with marked money that doesn't belong to you.
 
Basicly, you gotta use the common sense when you are looking at the bag. If it is a obvious dirty money bag and then I will pour it into fire and make it a good bon fire. I really don't care about the police department. I found it first therefore it is my job to handle it. It is not police's job anymore. I will always leave it to the police officers whenever the man is with gun doing whatever or drugs trafficing in my area or person need help like that's it.

The bottom line it is the owner's responsible to takecare of their money once it is lost and it is lost forever. If I had the bag and it is obviously the owner isn't very responsible with the bag therefore he must really don't care about that money. If you really care about that money and you will never lose it. BTW who would dare to bring $50k cash in the bag!? It's a common sense thing.

No I will not go around knocking the door. They would say yea it is mine even it isn't their. It is totally pointless to do like that. If I can't find any tag on the bag therefore it is for anyone.

First theory, maybe the owner want to drop it at no-where for someone to pick up as the owner's donate to anyone that is lucky to find it.

Second theory if it was dirty money and it must have some of weapons/drugs/cell-phone/papers/clothes inside the bag and I gotta use my judgement handle it. First thing in my mind is throw in the fire and make big bon fire as I can. The weapons and I will damage it and make sure it is useless like welding inside the barrels.

Third Theory if the owner really that dumb to lose the $50k without any tags on the bag. I am very sure he will contact the news media to announce his lost.

If the items has no tags on it and then it isn't call stealing because someone lost it and you found it therefore it is yours. If the owner proclaims it is his and then you can give it to him because you didn't paid for it.

For example if the pets is lost with no tag and you found it and you want to keep it because it had no tag on it. It is better than throw it into the pet shelter and then they will put them in sleep. I know that example is involving the emotional but I am giving the logic thing.

You are saying WWJD. Jesus will never give to the police department and he will give it back to the owner at that time because he already know the owner. I am not Jesus and I have limited knowledge therefore I have to use my judgements.

Why should I open someone's else bag? What if it had bomb inside? I would never bother to touch someone else's bag.

This thread is talking about of what if-s.
If it was a marked bag and I am very sure it must have some tags inside like paints or something. Without any tag and the police can't caught you for stealing. It must have any tag and you keep it therefore it is called stealing because you knew the owner and you do not perform the civilian's duty and the police can arrest for you that.
 
Well I wouldn't touch it if somebody around but if nobody around, I would check it out and see what it is. If it's bomb, oh shit.
