I was offended by....

Hitler did award the Iron Cross during WWII, but the design predates Nazi Germany by more than a century and is not specific to Nazi philosophy.

That was what I was trying to say in another post from last wintertime about the Iron Cross. The German Armed Forces today still have the Iron Cross on their tanks, jet fighters, on everything the German Armed Forces own today. The Iron Cross is not bad. It was used in the WW I & The Kaiser war etc. The Iron Cross has a very long history way before that time into acient centuries ago in Germany.

Heath, Are we talking abt the WW2 or the medal thing?? I AM TALKING ABT HOW I FEEL!! Stop changing the subject.

I went to google to type iron cross. Guess what, it is the same as nazi cross.

Yes, it was used by the Nazis, but it is not a swastika—there’s a big difference. Also, bear in mind that good ol’ Adolph, fun-lovin’ guy though he was, wasn’t particularly bright or imaginative. All of Nazi Germany’s icons were stolen from other cultures, including the swastika.

The uniform of the KKK was copied from the hoods and robes worn by Spanish Inquisitors. There’s a city in Spain that holds a reenactment of the Spanish Inquisition every year. So they have an annual parade with everybody marching down the street in what appear to be KKK uniforms! If I can find the name of the city, I’ll try to Google up a pic.

I understand that you are very upset about this but why beat yourself up over this? I mean she have already done that, its done for. Staying upset over this is not doing you any good, you know? Its not going to help or anything. Again, I understand that you are upset about that but.. what do you want her to do? She already had that tattoo done on her so like I said, that's that. Deal with it and move on. Feel free to rant more that's fine but its not going to get you anywhere since it's going to be permanent "stuck" on her. Sorry that she had that done. =/

I need to vent. Today my friend told me that I got the picture in my inbox. I went and check it out. I was so offended by it. My ex gf decided to have tattoo, she put down the nazi cross on it. I was like oh my god thats really big offense to me. Her sister in law is jewish. Did my ex realized what she had done? I told my two friends abt it. One said it is nazi cross and was offended her as well. She is 100 percent german and I am 25 percent german. sigh. I am still stunned and never thought she would do it or maybe she didnt realized. I .. I.. sigh.. I am sorry I am still speechless. I needed to vent it. Thanks for listening. I appreciated it.

You mean the swastica, which was used when Hitler was in office? Wow . . . hope it's on a part of the body where it can be hidden and not seen by potential friends or employers. I know that if I saw it while conducting business, I would terminate the business arrangement very quickly.

Heath..quit bashing against the Jews. Considering myself Messianic Jewish and I have been around Jewish people all of my life.. I don't need your negative posts on them! My mom's fiancee's family came here from Germany before the Nazi was able to capture them.. the Holocaust was horrible.. hearing through other people's experiences. I am disappointed in you Heath! :pissed:

Reddie ~

I don't think you have anything to worry about now ~ that is the Iron Cross. Not a Nazi symbol, but a symbol that has been used by many countries over the centuries when awarding high honors to anyone who defends its borders ~ even the U.S. Has a version of the Iron Cross, also, for a medal to be worn on a dress uniform.

Reba, please correct me if this is wrong. If not, what was the name of that medal and for what purpose was it to be presented for?

Smiles. Reddie, it would seem that the symbolism was to honor someone who may have died ~ there are years showing bordering the cross, which may be years of birth and death.

The Swastika is actually a very good sign, that's the way is was before the Nazi's took the sign and used it for their destructive ideals.

This is from Google.........maybe you don't know her real reasons why she got this!!

Yeah, but Nazi do have bad history that affected to many people and their lives. They will NOT forget that easy.

It seems that some people are confused about what an Iron Cross or a swastika...

Here are two examples:

This is an IRON CROSS.

This is a SWASTIKA.

Thanks for the links. I think everyone can see the difference now. :)

I'm well aware of it, Reba. But, as CyberRed said, no one will forget that easily.

As for Heath, if he's not from either of those countries, he is just an American with the nationalities in his blood. Makes as much sense as an African American saying they're such, when they're not even from Africa . . . but their ancestors are. They're American, not "African American." Big difference.

After looking at the tattoo more closely - it seems to be a "memorial" to someone named Indian Larry - 1949 could be the year of his birth and 2004 the year of his death.

The iron cross, question mark and wings are symbolic of biker lore - it's not a "woman biker tattoo", as you smugly put it, Heath, but a biker tattoo, period.

Reddie - I wouldn't worry about it. It's not a Nazi symbol, but a biker symbol. Nothing wrong with it - nothing to get ur knickers in a kink about....smiles. Someday she will be going, why did I do it??? Why did I have that tattoo put on my arm??? AAUUGGHH!!!!

Winkz.

actually no it isn't a hate symbol as you're the very first person I have heard of using this as a reference...many punks, bikers use this symbol as its not a hate symbol

I think what you seen is:

I was making a general statement.

I know. If people are born in America, they are "Americans", period. It's OK to say, "I have such-and-such ancestory," or "My ancestors were from such-and-such countries," or even "I have such-and-such blood in me." But unless someone actually emigrated from "such-and-such" country, then that person is "American".

One more :topic: statement. Even is someone has German ancestory, that doesn't mean they tend towards Nazism or anti-Semitism. It is an insult to all Germans to make statements that imply that "Oh, I'm German, so Nazi emblems and belief in Jewish conspiracies is natural for me."

Sorry, about the OT; just wanted to clear that up.
