I have some of old home video VHS since we do not have any vhs machine to watch those old movies. I am trying to find a place where can I send all of my old vhs to the right company to convert from vhs to dvd??

Where can I contact the right place?

Order online or buy from location store?

If location store then where you live?

I would prefer to bring all of my vhs to the local store instead of shipped as I am afraid to lose them in the mail. I am so cherish old family movies when my kids were little... memory is worth!

How about this VHS/DVD recorder - see this example...http://www.jufer.ch/produkte/dvd_video/dvd_pict/dmr-ex95vegs_10.jpg ?

I convert from my old VHS cassettes to DVD. VHS/DVD recorder cost not much... You can use VHS or DVD to watch or copy from VHS to DVD...

Yes I know what you mean. I do have VHS video of old families movies since my boys were babies. I convert VHS over DVD... It's best and safety.

No offense, VHS sucks
LOL.. c'mon.. in future someone or me will say DVD sucks.. because there is more popular movies can download on HDD or Media card than DVD thats what I noticed..

Heh, heh, true.

I started with 8mm film, converted to Beta, then had to convert to VHS, now converting to DVD. It's always something new.

Reba.. really? WOW!..interesting indeed.. I have own 8mm video camera. Now you look at years changed from the 8 mm video camera to the Mini CD/ dvd Video camera, then the HDD Video camera! Grrr... Next Gen, the Media card Video camera? who knows.

Yes I would recommend you to buy one when you own many VHS & DVD movies.

My old VHS recorder with subtitles was dead at few years ago after own it for 15 years. We want to buy new one but none VHS recorder with subtitles around anymore but just VHS recorder without subtitles. Until VHS/DVD recorder first come to market was very expensive. We decided to wait for few years until the price go down... Before that was EUR 1,000 then go to EUR 600... We bought VHS/DVD recorder for EUR 228 with special offer at last!!!! We convert from VHS to CD with subtitles and save it... We own many VHS cassettes and DVD and continue to watch VHS with subtitles... It's good feel when I use both VHS and DVD time to time.

Yes, but it's expensive... we decided for DVD/VHS recorder because of good price offer.

I'm going thru the conversion process myself right now.

All commercial VHS movies I will replace with commercial DVD movies.

All personal "home" movies and other special recordings on VHS I will copy onto DVD.

I bought a combination VHS/DVD recorder/dubber to make the copies. I hope to start that this afternoon. It's a rather time consuming process because it makes copies in real time. That means a two-hour movie takes two hours to copy.

It's a Magnavox ZV420MW8 Digital Video Disc Recorder with Video Cassette Recorder.

Wish me luck. :P

The reason why it takes copies in real time because VHS is analog and mechanical. Gotta have patience with that. :)

I'm converting Sweet Nothing in My Ear VHS to DVD. So far, so good. I won't know for sure until it's done and I play it back. About 90 minutes of dubbing are left.

Pah! I dubbed my first VHS to DVD!

Yeah did you try it and watch the (dvd) movie with CC or Subtitle after you converted it from VHS to DVD? thats what I am wondering to see if it works or not..
