I am wondering which HDTV models are best to buy?? Sony? Philips? Samsung? else?

Philips, Panasonic and Samsung

I'm getting HDTV for Xbox 360

Im not sure which is better, depending on the timing I believe. No brands are best all the time, they could be best for a while, then get the worst in other times.
Im still waiting for the price to become very stable before I can buy one. They have dropped their price like crazy lately. They haven't hit where there is no way they can drop price anymore. I just learn that these CRT monitors is going to phase out the manufacturing process in about year from now! Meaning you probably won't be able to buy new CRT monitor after 2007! Because LCD monitors now are cheaper to make than CRT, eh! And who wants CRT? Me, no more CRT, I lurvin flat screen LCD monitors. I think my 36 inch CRT TV will be my last one, and will go to Flat screen LCD/hdtv TV, around 50 inches wide screen!

Samsung is good LCD TV and affordable.

Sony have highly rate, best of allover, but it's very expensive.

I personally have the 32" Sharp Aquos in my bedroom, and the 55" Sony HDTV in my living room. They're pretty good in terms of video and sound quality, IMO.

I heard from good friend of mine who is electronic freako, he said best is Akai, reason? It is one of the easiest to modify, and adapt to any new future changes, I mean reprogrammed inside the unit where generally can't reprogram anything. I haven't verify anything and not planning to spend alot money yet.

Akai? Never heard their brand name...

Best Model

Expensive model: Samsung, Sony, LG, and Panasonic

Affordable model: Sanyo and Magnavox

Well for the best of today technology is LCD however it doen't have true black. The LCD doing better than PLASMA but there some new technology tv coming soon called SED, OLED, and Laser TV will be LCD and PLASMA KILLER. Because all those will have better contast and brightness.

These HDTV seem like a Great buy this Black Friday !!!!!!

Samsung isn't expensive to me.

I don't know which is better.

A lot of people I know get a HDTV when they have nothing HD to play on it.

Sorry for this stupid little question, what is the difference between LCD and plasma tv? do you need HDTV built in or get a box from cable TV company?

What I'm reading on other forums about Plasma and LCD, at least in regards to playing videogames is that Plasma is sketchy, because you run the chance of burning in images on the screen. It seems that if you pause your game and leave it on for too long can get it burned in, or a game that has a HUD(Heads Up Display) could get its images burned in. Games like GRAW, Halo, or a FPS where there is a radar and health bar on the screen a lot in the game have a HUD.
It appears LCD is the best way to go, and I'm agreeing. I happened to be in a Gamestop a week ago and saw a kid playing Madden 07 Xbox360 on a LCD monitor and it was exceptionally sharp looking.

For HD TV cable viewing, you first need a TV that has HDTV built in. Then you will need a hd box from the cable company so you can get HD signals and get HD channels displayed in proper HD on your tv. I warn you that the closed captioning looks different and is a bit harder to read than SDTV captioning.

I own a Samsung 940mw 19" wiescreen combo LCD HDTV/computer monitor. The differnece between CRT and LCD is so amazing between day and night. With the 360 hooked via component HDAV cables and set on 1080i...whooooa! the picture is so clearer than what I would on a SDTV at 4-3 screen. I'm working on figuring out how to get 1080p out of the Sammy, but I dont think it supports 1080p yet.

I'm so hooked on 16-9 widescreen and I wont go back to 4-3. Also CRT? forget it. Another reason for picking LCD over CRT is the weight of the tv. a 19" LCD weighs so much less than a 19" CRT and that sure saves me a visit to the chiropractor

Your tv will not support up to 1080p. 1080i can be progressive to 1080p. Not to worry about it. You can see difference from your SDTV is 420p. Your HDTV is 720p. Yeah about CRT is too heavy. I love LCD and easy to carry around.

I already ordered Sony SXRD 60 inches XBR2 with certified 1080p. Looking forward to have it. My Dell 26 inches LCD supports 720p. I hooked up Xbox 360 and using component. Also set up for 1080i. Yeah, it looked great! 16-9 widescreen is better than 4-3. I am saving for HD-DVD and Gears of War to hook up with Sony. Of course, Madden 2007 and NCAA Football 2007. Reason that I want for HD for pro football, movies, and xbox 360.
