Also, thanks for bringing up the exact quotes for the slavery in the Bible. Really interesting to see people "on the same side" (believers) to argue about what exactly the quotes mean.

Organized religion? Doesn't look like it.....

Sorta like how inflammable = flammable....

#1 as I said was a loaded question because it depends on how you view the first humans. My view is the first humans were black africans and therefore they started slavery. This plays into the#3 because as you pointed out the ship captains brought slaves from the original owners, black africans. You wanted to know if I referred to North America or South America, both which are impossible unless you are of opinion that the first humans originated from the two, serious doubt about that point.
The Bible says, and I'm sure Reba will back me, that God's slavery is good.
The reason for asking you is in previous post being discussed the part where people could work for "room and board" is textually the Bible way.

Slavery was never good. There was no "good slavery."

Even this theologian thinks it's ALWAYS bad, even if biblically:

"Don't let anybody tell you that biblical slavery was somehow less brutal than slavery in the United States. Without exception, biblical societies were slaveholding societies. The Bible engages remarkably diverse cultures -- Ethiopian, Egyptian, Canaanite, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and Roman -- but in every one of them some people owned the rights to others. Slaveowners possessed not only the slaves' labor but also their sexual and reproductive capacities. When the Bible refers to female slaves who do not "please" their masters, we're talking about the sexual use of slaves. Likewise when the Bible spells out the conditions for marrying a slave (see Exodus 21:7-11)....

In the New Testament, Jesus frequently refers to slaves in his parables, the witty stories that marked his most distinctive teaching style. He never addresses slavery as an institution, though unfortunately one of the parables assumes that beating a slave is acceptable (Luke 12:47-48)."

Ewell Razor, other than his stint in WWII and Korea, he was a crop picker his entire life.

So were his brothers. So was his father and uncles. So were his sons, until they were driven out of business by your so called "cheap labor" (which means hiring illegals).

So ... who is the racist? That happened to be my family's business .... as well as a LOT of other American families.

Please... my white great grand family did exactly the same thing, it doesn't change the fact that we modern whites don't want those jobs anymore. They were Polish immigrants and they worked hard. They farmed. They raised crops. But they wanted their kids to have white collar jobs. Whites are much more likely to be educated in college and demand jobs that only could be achieved with a college degree.

That's exactly what Mexicans are doing - many work hard and they hope their kids will go to college!

So, please don't tell me that they were "driven out" of their jobs. If they don't know how to do it competitively, then it's their problem.

That's why capitalism is great!

Nice try .... you are claiming that white's - as in all white's - won't do hard labor unless they are paid a fair wage.

Well, why don't you test that theory on other races as well - that are here LEGALLY.

Will a legal hispanic immigrant work for $1.90 an hour?

So you support socialistic policies where everyone must be paid the minimum wage.. ok. :giggle:

Also, would you work for $1.90 per hour on a farm? Just askin... if those illegals can do it, why not you do it?

Seems to me the a lot of people are missing the point here...it is AGAINST THE LAW for these people to be here. It is AGAINST THE LAW to pay anything lower than established minimum wage. Why should American citizens be willing to work for $1.90 an hour? Even LEGAL immigrants are pissed off about the illegals swarming over here and not having to go through the legal channels they had to BY LAW go through. Legal immigrants had to learn English, and basic laws of being a citizen of this country. They had to assimilate to some degree and were more than willing to do so. Why should the tax payers of this country pay out millions of dollars to accommodate illegals by having everything printed out in spanish language? Why isn't that money used to help fund programs to accommodate Deaf people? Or Blind People? Or help the poor and homeless Americans? Or help fund our schools better? Or help the Elderly? Mexico needs to get it's shit straightened out and help it's own people. They are NOT America's responsibility. We need to clean up our own country and help our own people before trying to take care of everyone else's problems.

oh hell with that ... screw the poor, the disabled, and the legals.. we want to make moola for ourselves and our kind! We always oppose minimum wage laws. without them, we'd not hire illegals. you bleeding heart liberal for implementing socialist communist facsist policies!

:giggle:

Same here. There's an Amish community less than a 20 minute drive from here. It is time for me to visit again.

I love going to Clark!! I miss it a bunch. I would drive through once a month and buy some of the vegetable and such. Once a year we would get 2 new brooms and whisk brooms.

Thanks for the idea! For some reason there is no milk sold from Clark this year, and I will check into it.

The other point that is being missed is that the overall objective and function of slavery was for cheap agricultural labor.

That is the exact same overall objective and function of hiring illegal immigrants. Those who support this are breaking the law, they are also supporting slavery.
