Earth Day

Well, it has been like that since I started working there on Nov 2007...that's before the economy took a nosedive. It's nothing new.

oh well. the best you can do is educate your work to minimize its waste.

We live in such a consumeristic society. Almost every woman I know dyes her hair (carcinogenic to her and our water ways), want the latest in fashions, spend spend spend....I play a big part in it too. I look in my childs toy closet and holy cow he has sooo many toys.....

I still want to know the million dollar question: which is better for a grocery sack: plastic or paper? :/

My opinion? Reuseable cloth bags. Our plastic bags here can be recycled, so can paper bags ....so then the question becomes what resources are used (ie:paper bags from trees) and what imprint does making the bags and then later recycling them have on our earth? sorry, I don't know the answer. I use cloth bags.

i'd say paper. because plastic bag is everywhere (street, ocean, etc.). It's not biodegradable so recycled paper bag is preferable. I'd take plastic if it's biodegradable.

You arent supporting mother of nature if you eat meat..

then I guess meat-eating animals like Africa are anti-Mother Nature? why is our body NATURALLY equipped by Mother Earth to eat animal then?

whoever made this video is WACKED!

Yep I am going to have to go with Moon Child.. I have all of the reusable bags for grocery shopping. Most people who use paper or plastic bags dont recycle them. The reusable bags can hold more too because they are more durable. Plus they are BRIGHT floresent green! lol

Neither because cotton canvas is a better choice. It is more durable and last much longer. They are recyclable. No need to take down a tree or suck up crude oil from underground.

I kept forgetting to take my reuse bags for groceries! I gotta to put it by the door not in the kitchen! LOL!

I keep mine in the car. Sometimes I would decide to go food shopping at the last minute. I also keep coupons in the car for the same reason.

I keep two plastic pop-up boxes in the trunk. I like those boxes as you can store them flat. I last used those boxes when I picked up broken tiles for my future mosaic projects.

We recylce most of the things at home, we have three recycling wheely bins(trash cans for you americans)
most shopping centres(malls) here also have recylcing bins too. I get the bus to college, my mum uses reuse bags(cotton) for groceries, she has 5 reuse bags.

Can you tell me why you think we were equipped by Mother Earth to eat animals?? We don't have claws to tear the skin open. We don't have sharp teeth like lions to bit meat off an animal. We had to use tools to kill animals and eat them. Tools are like we are cheating. We are primates like gorillas and chimpanezes. Gorillas are vegetarians. Chimpanezes are mostly vegetarians and they would eat a smaller monkey if they can catch one. Chimpanezes do like ants on sticks.

Uh.....I think this is a whole different topic as it borderlines the Evolution theory.

Secondly--does that mean you are not going to eat your dinner tonight without spoons, knives, and forks?

They can't harm animals unless sharp knives..

Then you can ask that question to her in PM..

this is open forum, I can respond if i want to, thank you! :squint:

If you looked at my post, I took Buffalo's quote and used my question towards her as it was related to her comment.

Yes--it is an open forum however you can practice a little......tact. :)

I eat with spoons, forks, and cut with knives because it is a human manner. Let me see you kill a cow without any tools. Let me see you tear the cow open without any tools.

Haven't you heard of how pigs' poops ruined the waterways. I saw that on a tv program. I think they are changing their ways and I hope for better.
