racheleggert,

Heath doesn't know any better. He was southern educated, if that's what they try and do in their schools in the southern part of the USA, they are still fighting the civil war, so what can you actually expect?

I find the conferate flag repulsive myself and most definately not Christian at all. I doubt his salvation, as Jesus Christ Himself wasn't racist. :nono: Since Heath is being a pain in the backside (again), we can all add him to our ignore list if we want to, as he's heading there on mine. I won't put up with any racist garbage from anyone and I don't have to view his racism, as he's doing it on purpose :asshole: and really needs to grow up.

As a Southerner I am ambivalent about the Confederate flag. On one hand, I don't think we should run from the fact that this is a part of our region's history (which I cannot get a time-machine to go back and change, as much as I'd like to). Remember that the Civil War was fought over an issue of states' rights as well as the cultural differences that did, unfortunately, include slavery. Remember also that racism was not and is not exclusive to the South--don't point fingers to us without cleaning up your own house first. (Remember the signs in Northern cities that said "No Irish Need Apply"?)

On the other hand, I understand and respect the feelings of those who see the Confederate flag as a sign of oppression. I do not believe in the terrible abuses that come from racism, wherever I find them in this world, North, South, or otherwise. And I also think it's horrible what modern hate groups have done to disgrace that symbol even further.

So anyway, the Confederate flag issue definitely has two sides.

Exactly what a liberal would do or say, and he is scared to have people check to see that I am telling the truth and by the way, and you have not even bothered to look at the truth on the website.

Here is a real shocker for you EyesBlueDeaf :

I am typing this completely sober and alochol dry. I have not even had any German Peppermint Schnapps to drink yet with my nightly newspaper nor any German or Italian wine to drink with my dinner so put that thought out and get to some hard hitting real educative reading....
:jaw: I'm shocked!

True.....did you know that many Biblical scholars think Jesus was BLACK? Real shocker eh? But there are some crazies out there like Christian Identity types or some extreme conservative Christians who think otherwise, or who hold up the Bible to defend racisism.

If anyone uses the Bible to defend racism, they are WRONG!

God put all the DNA for all races in Adam and Eve.

Racism is anti-Christian.

I confess, I have never read that book. It is just something I was thinking about. :)

Take a peek at it...its not a bad book (same goes for The Case For Faith).

All religious stuff aside, I've always taken the seperation of Church and State to mean that the government cannot tell us what religion we have to worship. There are no state founded religions. Think of when the constitution was formed....people were breaking loose from a government that told them how they were to worship and it was a crime not do it. When was the last time anyone here was thrown in jail strictly for the religious beliefs?

And where do you draw the line? Do you see those spots where people are killed in highway crashes? Have you ever had a friend or family member killed in a car accident? Do you have a problem with the crosses that family members place in those spots where their loved ones tragically died? Well, there is a movement to ban any type of memorial of this sort. Why?

Locally to me, there was a large chunk of land that was for sale next to a rather large cemetary. It was feared that developers would purchase the land and build in an already overcrowded area. The county goverment stepped up and assisted the cemetary with purchasing the land...better to have a cemetary there then a highrise or large housing development. Does this mean that anybody buried in that area should be allowed to put up crosses or any type of gravestone/marker that has any religious connotation? "Well Mr. Jones. I know you want this nice marble cross with a prayer on it for your dearly departed wife but because the government helped purchase the land, you cannot do that...you know, that whole seperation of church and state thing.....but you can have this marble display of roses and doves. Oh wait, Christ had thorns on his head and doves have religious meaning....OK, Mr. Jones, here is what we will do, we can put a cinderblock there and say 'The old lady is dead'"

Problem solved.

deafdyke,

What makes you think Jesus was Caucasian? He wasn't. Ever see the people in the Middle East? He would be that skin tone.

Better tell Heath, this guy is wrapping himself in the confederate flag and still fighting the civil war, Reba. :ugh:   :laugh2:

Well, that's something that's still undetermined.

Where did the Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese come from? Where did the Africans come from? Where did the Hispanics come from? Why do we have many races and languages?

God made people according to the location, the weather etc. I think this happened after the Babel tower fell in the KJV Holy Bible where people now speak or sign in different foriegn languages.

FYI Jesus Christ is Jewish therefore he had to be white in Israel since the Jewish population is white with a white olive skin complexion of tan due to the sun and not black either.

God didn't make anyone else. God only made Adam and Eve.

I didn't say that.......Just bringing up the fact that a lot of us are misled into believing that Jesus was a European White male.

and God made Jesus Christ too. Don't forget that.

( Jesus Christ had to be Perfect, Holy and Pure also be without sin so therefore, God did make Jesus Christ. )

God didn't make Jesus. He only helped Mary create Jesus. According to the Bible, God made Adam. God then made Eve by cloning Adam, but a female version.

At least to me, I'd figure Jesus would have looked normal for people in His home region. After all, some people back then could get very superstitious or condescending towards those who didn't look like them, and He had to make sure He was heard, and that His message wasn't distracted from for stupid reasons.

I agree.

I think there are three reasons that the Bible doesn't give a detailed physical description of Jesus.

1. Because there was nothing remarkable about His face or body. He looked like a regular Jewish guy.

2. God wants us to focus on the character and nature of Jesus, not His physical look.

3. God wanted people to follow Jesus for what He said and did, not for how He looked. Too many people are easily attracted by shallow "star" quality impressive looks.

I like this description in Isaiah:

Isaiah 53:1-3
1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

IMHO, I think that God made Jesus "swarthy"--that is, dark skin, eyes, and hair (but not fully black nor white) so no one ethnic group centuries later could claim Him exclusively as "one of them." Neither the White nor Black supremicists can legitimately set up Jesus as their figurehead.
