Do you Think a Condo Association has the Rights to Throw Away Clothes Left In Washing

You have to shop around, you cant just look at 1 place.
I would never just settle for a place.

Im sure you could get the bed in if you flipped it on it side, otherwise you would probably be to tall to fit in the door.

The window thing is crazy.
Alot of places dont allow machines in the personal unit.
Assuming that a bed is the same thickness no matter how you turn it. Instead of carrying it flat through the doorway, you flip it to your right 90 degrees and presto, it fits! Most beds are longer than they are wide. I seriously doubt a bed would be 6 and a half to 7 feet wide. We have 7 foot doorways, we were able to get all of our beds moved into their proper rooms with no trouble at all when we moved here in 1996.

Really, you don't say!! What part is hard to understand that is not a good market to be buying right now! If I had brought one of the places I looked at and took a mortgage out , the mortgage would more than the place was worth! where did I say I only looked at one place !! ?? I have own 4 homes, I know what to look for and I would never let a realtor force me into buying a place I do not like! One tried that and I dump her!

I said I looked at place and the bedroom had no windows! I would NEVER buy a place that had no windows in a bedroom! My condo is 812 sq feet and when I looked at condo a few years ago they where smaller than mine and you could not eat in the kitchen! Some lady came to look at my condo some years and when she saw the size of it she said she could buy a house for the same price in Caroline! She did not realize houses and condos cost more in the East ! How could I live below the basement if I live on the first floor! If that was true I would be living underground!!

You should take your time searching the places via Realtor.com that you like so much. That's what I do. It took me a year to find the right place. So, here I bought a townhouse, that was 8 years ago. Your condo unit's size is not bad. My deaf friend's (ground level) condo unit is 780 sq. feet. She has windows in her master bedroom and in the living room except in the bathroom and in the kitchen. She has a full sized bed that fits in her bedroom. Do you have a small dinette or kitchen-dining room combo? Yeah, I know the condos/townhouses/houses in East are more expensive than West. Did you said you own 4 houses, why not sell your 4 houses? So, that way, you can move to a bigger condo with a lot of windows. You probably will be happy there.

Believe WDYS said that she "had" owned 4 houses, not owning them now. Anyhow,, I could not live in a 780 sq. ft. condo, would be "squashed" to death. Would have to be over 1500 sq. ft., even that is considered small by today's standards. Mine now is over 2,000 sq. ft. and we are packed in here (since I have the boys).....But living by myself, even then I would like a place over 1500 sq. ft.

All in all, she is just "too fussy" about anything, IMHO.

It is NOT the condo property. We rent them from a company! My condo does not own the machines that why I wonder if it legal for the condo to throw away people clothes. I think they're being assholes!

But what exactly do you mean by your clothes being "thrown away"?
Thrown away into garbage can forever? or just put onto some surface, like a table or ..?

Because if the first, then no, I don't think so.
Under no circumstances can the condo management make the rule
to suddenly start throwing away into garbage other people's private property even if they have the most annoying habits. No. Nope.

But what they CAN do, after sufficient notice, they can take your clothes away from the dryer or the washing machine, and put it away safely somewhere else, then fine you a fee upon releasing them to you.

Don't go around Naked, whatdidyousay!...Get your clothes out of the washer/dryer in a timely manner....then give the sign on the wall the Bird !!

"Not responsible for lost or stolen items"

Comes to play too. :hmm:

Always a fine print somewhere. If the clothes are left and they end up in the garbage. They are literally not responsible. It is usually in the lease or contract of the complex.

? It cost her.

Her electricity and water.

I knew someone would say this! If my daughter minded she would had said no! This is what family does help one another out, at least that how it is with my daughter and me! I am guessing that is not the true with your family , or you would not had brought this up!!

Your clothes would be put out with the trash! I guess the condo being the asses they're would take your clothes with them and throw it in their dumper! Thank you! this what I am thinking, how the condo throw away
people's private property! I spoke to some people about the new rule and 2 people didn't see the notice on the wall as it put in a spot people would look at! The notice should been mailed out to everyone like the by law said! Some people made comments about me using bold print in one in of my comment, I had never used any bold prints in anything I posted! I see no need for it

I am not concerned about myself as I never do a washing that late. I am concerned about my elderly neighbors forgetting they left their clothes in a machines. I do NOT live in the same building as them, if I did and found their clothes I would let them know! I try to look out for my elderly neighbors. I hope someone will do the same for me when I am older!

NO NO NO WAY !!!!!!!! You don't get to make assumptions about MY family. I said nothing about my family here.

You said it cost you nothing. I said, it cost her. Her water and electricity. There is no way around that, unless she doesn't pay for either.

It also doesn't matter if she didn't mind -- I'm glad she didn't because she is your daughter. Yes, family do help each other out. I take no issue with that in your post whatsoever.

BUT, it did cost SOMEONE something.

Don't you ever bring up MY family again, especially when I said nothing about my family in my post.

The cats? :D

Yeah .. I've got cats :D

(Didn't mention them in my post, though ..)

And, I would love it if they'd do their own laundry. Cat beds, blankets, whatnot

Sounds like it should be a part of this new 'Green' fad that is going around. I'm really liking the reusable recycled aluminum water bottles. Aluminum can be recycled indefinitely. It's the most common metal found on earth, but it is also the most difficult to mine. Aluminum is more or less solidified electricity which makes it a very good conductor. To refine aluminum at a single refinery, the amount of electricity needed to do the job is equivalent to then entire power grid of Dayton, OH.

How do I know this stuff? I watched a special about it on Discovery channel a couple of years ago and I've always remembered these facts about aluminum.

I even recycle my aluminum foil.

That is definitely true. Changes in procedure should always be communicated by letter to the condo residents, with probably a certain notice period included, as in "This change will take place within 15 days" or whatever the condo rules say is the minimum time for changes in policy to be effective.

I agree with this! I had to bring my eyes glasses with me to read what the notice said! We have a few elderly people living here and they would never see the notice and if they did they would not be able to read it with their glasses on! My eyes sight is not that bad and I hard a hard time reading the print.!
This new rule was just dumped on us with no warning and the condo did not give people a time to a improve things on their own!

Oh, no, even with the notice board a large as the Yankee Stadium
this would be illegal for the condo management to take it upon themselves to start throwing people's private property into trash
for breaking some rules.

NO WAY.

Like I've said before, they can't throw your stuff away just because you broke the rule.
But they can fine you for it, and they can take away your stuff and refuse to return until the fine is paid.
They also have an obligation to return your stuff in the exact condition it was taken.

If they threw your stuff away, you can take them to the small claims court.
However, I am not a lawyer, so check this stuff out with professional first
before you do that.
But I am 99% sure I am right - I used to watch A LOT Judge Judy, Judge Alex, People's Court and the likes :)
