Actually, there are places that pay you for your findings before putting them on display.ravensteve1961 said:Reba i told scuba a simular thing. Hes a scubadiver you know. I told him if he ever find a tresure chest from the pirates stole 300 years ago you keep it!! Do not tell the goverment anything cause they would call the press,,Take your picture with a senators handshake and thet would be the end of it.. That tresure chest you found would be displayed in a museum and youll still be poor in empty. You keep quiet and negoate for it. If i found a tresure chest id look around ask around some wealthy people and tell em suppose i have 100 LBS of gold and silver how much you ask for it? Thats how you get the money and dont end up dry.

Exactly. The law of salvage is totally different from finding a bag of money on the street. Especially Ravensteve's example of "treasure" lost 300 years ago, compared to a bag of cash that someone living still has legitimate claim to (referring to Ravensteve's story about his brother).Levonian said:Not to mention the fact that Maritime Law usually recognizes that anybody who finds anything of value which has been abandoned, gets to keep it. The general rule is that once the insurance claims are settled, the wreck is considered to be abandoned and it’s free game for anybody who wants to try to salvage it. That’s why they can’t do anything about all those treasure hunters who are pillaging the wreck of the Titanic. They’re not breaking any Maritime Laws—what they’re doing is perfectly legal.
thats the way it works here in dallas , this kid gave a mom when here child isin hospital, so why is everybody making fun of steve he is just ex-pressing things like reminding things in the old ways etc.Levonian said:Not to mention the fact that Maritime Law usually recognizes that anybody who finds anything of value which has been abandoned, gets to keep it. I found someones cat and return it, it made some girl happy her cat is back. Or a dog id return it not if i found gold coins, money, or anything else valuable.Because its finders keepers loosers weepers. And about marinetime laws,,Scuba told me you must report any stolen tresure you find in the sea to the goverment. Now i know how that is cause you get a handshake and thats it. Vamp i didnt know if museums pay you for displaying your items??tell me more.
that what I was thinking Karma got to ravensteve... smh *walk away*Oceanbreeze said:Erm, Zesty...
I think Karma has bitten RavenSteve on the backside. Look at his predicament...He's losing his hearing, and he's quite bitter about it. I'd say Karma is having a lot of fun with him right now.
Wouldn't you?
What goes around does come around.

ravensteve1961 said:reba you mean if i swim into the titanic whatever i find is mine? Even if i found a pair of diamond earings?
ravensteve1961 said:These are smart kids!!! My brother found a bag full of money and showed it to my dad.And dad turned it over to the police.THAT WAS STUPID!! My brother doesant understand the hard cold reality of this world. The Goverment doesnt want you have money. If i found that money i buired it somewhere and tell my friends they must keep it a secret. Or we split up the money and you bury it in your secret place. My brother was a dumbass took the money to my dad and cops pick up and bank president shook my dads hand and that was the end of it. The money he found was from a bank robbery the robbers must have lost that bag. So that was stupid i told mark jesus christ,,Dont you have a brain ?? You dont have a god damn clue about reality.I was 14 at that time and he was 8.
