I love camping in the wilderness, like in national forests and national parks with campgrounds. It's more natural than camping at KOA, in my opinion. :)

i agree with you!!! :thumb:

Has anyone tried camping on the beach?

Has anyone tried camping at Ravensteve's back yard? could we cook your roasted weiner with Cheri and Angel's secret recipe BBQ on the grilled. We will enjoy to listen your Politics lecture all the night. :)

Norway has a lot of cabins and campgrounds for rental on the road - in the mountains and by the fjords. :thumb:
So I'd try finding very scenic places to camp at in USA... LOL! Or those Motels? ;)

I never try camping in my life. It's scary to have snakes, spiders, foxes, boars, wild rabbit etc. come to visit me in tent. :Ohno:

I love to walk through wild forest and look at view when I'm on high hill/mountain. I sleep at motels, hotels, and bed & breakfast hotel everywhere I travel to.

I love camping! CookieMonster's girlfriend and I went camping together this past May at Moab (in a cabin) for two nights and at Grand Canyon (in a tent) for two nights. It was brilliant, and at Grand Canyon, it was freezing cold even though it was May. The temperatures dropped down to 20s!!! The sky was so beautiful, full of many stars. Trying to make a campfire at 8000 feet is a lot different than at 1000 feet, be sure of that!

In Utah, there are so many places to camp, especially at National parks. You can use the Golden Access Pass and get 50 percent discount for camping at national parks. In the state parks, it's not expensive either. Also, there are many roadside camping sites owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Utah, which has no electricity or running water, but the views are awesome. It's in middle of nowhere, and if one comes prepared with water and generator, it's a great camping experience.

I wouldn't be worried about animals! Animals are scared of humans, and they wouldn't bother you. However, if an animal comes to the camping area, it is best to stay away from animal. Camping is the best experience for me to be close to nature! Motels and hotels are overrated for me anyway, especially if we are just going to sleep there one night.

i agree... mostly i put my foods, toothpaste, toothbrush and decodorant in (~2 liters) bag with a thin string(~50ft) and i toss the bag at tall tree branch ~50 ft away from my tent and level the bag away from the ground and branch to make sure the animals cant reach the bags and tie them on tree. i do not bring any strong smelly foods in tent or they can damage my tent. however i can put foods under my tent flyer if raining comes.

my favorite backpacking trip was when i went winter backpacking in snow country in nc/tn for a couple of times. i went through knee depth snow. in 1995 we survived in -20F degree windchill in mtns. brr !

Mostly foods storage in the cooler.. put into the car safe place. Animal will not smell foods...

That what we are doing that... put foods in the car safe place.. We refused leave the foods inside our tent..

Never forget that, Long years back ago, We were first time camping and went to Manitolian Island (way up the north) stayed there for 4 nights and surprised racoon stole my 2 breads bags gone.. I was chased racoon and trying get my bread back but failed.. :( After all, I've learned my lesson and must foods put into the car safe place..
(chuckles) My friends were laughing at me.. I was asked them why you should have tell me long ago. They said, Hell no way.. I'd rather you learn on your own 1st lesson about camping rules.. *rolls my eyes up* sound alike am I survouir?

i disagree respectfully in some ways. the animals DO smell the foods in cars or truck or safes. these animals are very smart to figure out how to get in. i would not put foods in my car in the bear country ! but i prefer putting it in the safes beside the site - far away from tent or trailer because they dont have their "thumbs" to open the locks. there are a lot of reports that the bears do damage cars, tents or cabins.

hope these help.

personally i had the same experience with three bears damaging our coolers and etc in the bear country when i was 13 yrs old. it was really amazing how intelligent they were. my step dad was chick out not knowing how to approach them. somehow our campsite neighbors saw them and ran after them as the neighbors clapped with the pans loudly. they ran away quickly. the bears hate the noises.

Do not worry, RavenSteve has a nice camping ground. You would not miss to see his front of the house.

:ty: for information but quite wow bears has good intelleigent.. How can be bears can sniffing harder what car has some of foods.. but window sealed closed. Wow impressive.. *ack*~

Mostly USA has lotsa of bears..

I don't see any bears around in Ontario,Canada.. Mostly I've seen racoon, skunk, chipmucks, squrriel and much more tiny animals.. but not HUGE animals.. (hmmmmm)
Thanks for tip about this information.. by the way, In case for us will have huge prepared. Thanks again!

^^ That's why we hang food on ropes up high in the trees, so bears can't climb up. Baby bears can, but not adult ones. It depends on the bears and people. Who knows.

haha, bears don't eat people. That's a myth. They will just protect themselves from danger. Bears love FOOD! They're naturally omnivores. They eat fish and vegetation, not people.
