Bikers terrorizes young family in suv

I'd choose my family in this situation. What mattered where the people inside the SUV and the idiots starting the incident in the first place. I'd choose me and my family. No matter how selfish that would be, I'd rather my family be okay and I something happen to me than see someone hurt them. Then again, maybe being a Texan I'm "old fashioned." :giggle:

Plus, there are not always police stations around anyways. Just saying...

lol just like Cops, never one close when you really need it....

 Probably eating donuts like in RR's donut joke thread.

Nah, but people do need to consider facts like this when they travel. Travel the creepy, quiet county highway where no cars travel at night? Would you really expect a cop to be out there? Perfect place for something bad to happen.

And I need to quit watching Halloween flicks... it is making my mind imagination go wild.

The bat hit the pillar on the side of the car, just nearly missing my mother's head. That guy in court got off without a single charge. I'm saying having been through serious road rage, I understand how the actions of both drivers can determine how an encounter turns out. I'm not at all justifying the bikers acting like morons, but running their friend over, what did he think was going to happen, the bikers calmly figuring out they should just go home, no, it only made irate people angrier.

the driver pulled over after the accident. bikers started surrounding him, menacing him, damaging his Range Rover, and slashing his tires.

that means knives. multiple knives waving around. so you gonna stick around if you've got a 2-years old daughter and a wife in the Rover with you?

you bet your dang ass that I will plow them down with extreme prejudice once my own family is in danger. I have absolutely no sympathy nor concern for any biker injured from this incident. absolutely none. they were criminals to begin with and this is what happens when a criminal breaks the law. somebody's gonna get hurt especially the bad guys. they have broken at least 20 laws.

Has there been any verification that the bikers were actually doing this? It is very hard to see from the videos. I mean, I couldn't see any of those things from the videos online. I could easily have interpreted what I saw to be a group of bikers stopping because someone got into an accident, to check on the victim.

But of course, if they had surrounded him in a violent manner, I don't blame him one bit. As you know, I have a newborn. Anyone tried that on me with my newborn in the car would die, and I do not care if I go to prison over it.

The video does not clearly depict the actions of the motorcyclists at that point. But the police said the driver of the S.U.V., Alexian Lien, 33, quite likely feared for his safety as he sat in the vehicle with his wife and 2-year-old daughter — his car stopped and surrounded. One of the riders smashed the Range Rover’s driver side mirror, the police said.

A biker pulled in front of the car and slowed down, forcing Lien to stop — at which point, as seen on the gang’s video, the bikers stop and a confrontation ensues.

“They take their helmets and they start to dent his car, and apparently his tires are slashed with a knife,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said at a press conference Monday.

The panicked dad gunned the engine, striking several bikers — one of whom was seriously injured — as he sped off, with the pack of thugs in hot pursuit, police sources said.

“He feared for his life and the lives of his wife and daughter,” a police source said.

The thugs chased him more than 50 blocks north, as seen on the 6-plus-minute video, which quickly went viral.

Lien was eventually forced to exit at West 178th Street in Washington Heights because his tires were so badly damaged, police said.

The SUV initially pulled over, but then took off after the bikers surrounded him and hurled threats while damaging his car, even slashing one of the tires, according to police. The driver, a father in his 30s was accompanied by his wife and 2-year-old daughter.

The video shows the man accelerating suddenly and the Range Rover bouncing up as he drives away, running over at least three bikers in the process.

New information is emerging about the injured biker and his lengthy traffic violation record. In fact, Mieses never even had a license, somehow remaining on the streets despite getting 16 tickets in 14 years. He was deemed a habitual traffic offender who is not allowed a license until 2017. But his family says he was not responsible.

Then there’s Cruz, who set off a chain of events and may have escalated the one he caused — but his lawyer says he isn’t culpable because what happened after the fender bender was done by others.

his family says this hoodlum is not responsible? I'm sorry but I don't understand... NOT RESPONSIBLE? this "choir boy" was a habitual traffic offender... unlicensed... 16 tickets.... riding motorcycle illegally... unregistered motorcycle... and he's not responsible? I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree

I thought if you didn't have insurance or a license, you were automatically at fault. My brother got in a car accident that was clearly the other drivers fault. ( the other driver rear ended my brother speeding ) but my brother was ticketed with the accident because in the police officers words my brother should not have been there at that time driving and the accident would have never happened if he wasn't driving..... Which I have to agree with. I hope it works that way everywhere.

I can believe that if you're not licensed, you're at fault but it really depends on the situation.

for example - your brother was unlicensed and he was going thru intersection at green light. but the other driver ran thru red and t-boned your brother. that driver is obviously at fault.

having no insurance does not have any bearing in whose fault is it. you will get ticketed for it and your car will be impounded.

I suppose it is a situation to situation thing, but it definitely is a point to consider, they wouldn't have been there had they obeyed the part of not driving by having their license revoked. :hmm: Guess I can see both sides of the spectrum with that one.

it's really entirely up to police to judge the situation. since your brother was unlicensed.... the victim can claim that your brother braked too hard or too soon which led to accident when in fact that the victim was probably tailgating too close and wasn't paying attention.

but then..... it's "he said, she said".... so... yea it's crap situation for your brother unless there's a camera out there that proves otherwise.

That is your opinion and you're entitled to it. Having been in a real serious road rage situation before and seeing how it was handled by both sides, I realise one side starts it, but the actions of the other person determine what happens next and how bad the person(s) who started it act.
The SUV wasn't doing the road rage...the bikers were! The SUV was in the middle of a bunch of bikers with no license plate tags. The driver already bumped into one biker when that biker swerved in front of the SUV and suddenly decided to slow down causing the SUV to hit the back of the bike. The SUV driver had his wife and little girl with him. You'd think he'd stop and wait for the police, and nothing would happen? The bikers created an intimidating atmosphere...not the SUV.

curious were this biker who videotaping everything? did biker voluneeter to give the evidence to cops or cops took his videocamerz. :hmm:

Calm down, you act like this is the first time you've encountered someone with a different opinion than your own. You weren't personally involved in this event, so it shouldn't be personal when anyone else gives an alternative option.

I still stand by my opinion that the SUV driver running over people and fleeing only served to make angry bikers even angrier. Yes, I get it, people panic and don't think clearly, but I'm saying his panic only served to exasperate the already angry bikers. I know some bikers get carried away and hit cars with their feet and hands, but you can't prove they were going to beat him up then and there. I see the biker that got hit at fault for jumping in and slowing down quickly, but the SUV driver was likely not paying attention to the biker in front of him and that lead to the accident. The SUV driver was likely looking in his rearview mirror at all the bikes behind him.

I'm done posting here in this thread since people are taking the events of another person so personal because of one insignificant person having a different opinion. People are people, bloody, greedy barbarous and cruel, so actions of others don't surprise me much at any level; humanity just sucks, but we only deal with it for a few decades and then we die and let others deal with the same crap that never ends.

I would've done the same thing the SUV driver did in that situation. Can't believe these thugs even smashed the passenger side window of the SUV, as well. :ugh:

Be Cool, let them speak free whatever they want. It's just discussion, what's their opinion and reaction about what happened. Yeah, I know Pro and Con argument sux, anyway. thanks for sharing with us.

Care to explain why Cruz, the biker who swerved into the front of the SUV was arrested and charged.

BTW, I asked why the guy who used the baseball bat with a nail in it damaged the car in a road rage got off without a single charge. Was he innocent?

You know...and I think Jiro probably can verify.....these bikers are not your typical HD gangster type. These guys operate (can't think of the class of bikes--crotch rockets?) the kinds of bikes they do are super fast and these guys are ultra skilled in handling the bikes and I pretty vividly recall these guys or guys like them do this occasionally in the streets of New York or NJ......I can see why the SUV driver did what he did (wife, child) in a very stressful situation. I'd have done the same.....
