I think DHB & Jiro have different meanings for "cancelled check" in mind.
DHB means the check has been processed and therefore is canceled as no longer holding value.
Jiro means the check was canceled due to insufficient funds.
Definition of 'Canceled Check'
A check that has cleared the depositor's account and has been marked as "canceled" by the bank. A canceled check has been paid by the drawee bank and endorsed by the payee, the payee's bank, and the Federal Reserve Bank. Canceled checks can also be used as proof of payment.

but I've never said you do. I was just telling DHB that a person can still write a bad check despite of this technological advance.

I have several of those in my house. Also, for lamps, 3-way bulbs.
No disco colors though.![]()
Its much harder to write bad check nowadays than it was then.
You will get caught in matter of minutes compared to back in 70's, it takes them up to 2 weeks. That was how Frank wrote thousands of bad checks raked 14 millions dollars. My point is that it is impossible to repeat what Frank did back in 70's
it takes minutes? are you sure? it usually takes a few days.
I think you're right. To me, a canceled check means that it has been processed by the bank, and the funds have been successfully transferred.I think DHB & Jiro have different meanings for "cancelled check" in mind.

jiro, so you have no desire of having a romantic colored light moment, like light purple.![]()
don't need no light to set the mood.
That's why I like the Reveal bulbs....That is what I am talking about, the dimmer switch you showed us can't change the light temperature because it is fixed in the light bulb.
Not anymore, for example you go to Home Depot, they have scanner on their hand, they will scan your check and transmit and your bank will get it at that moment. If you see sign "Chex system" at any store, they will take your funds from your bank instantly with your checks. Technically, they automatically switch from check to Debit system to get money faster and detects fake checks.
The only way to have it floating few days is if one don't have scanner and electronically relationship with bank. For example, Small time Landlords, friends, something like that.
three days free ride is over.
Unless you're sending a check thru the mail, it's processed at most retailers just like a debit card. That is, they scan it, and it's recorded at the bank as quickly as a debit purchase.it takes minutes? are you sure? it usually takes a few days.
oh that's cool. but then.... since if it's instant like that... then what's the point of having a check? why not use Debit card? it's the same thing.
I use checks for mailing, person-to-person payments, and for church offerings. They pass an offering plate at church, not a scanner.oh that's cool. but then.... since if it's instant like that... then what's the point of having a check? why not use Debit card? it's the same thing.
Exactly! Some people still prefers checks because they "Thinks" its safer than debit card and refused to switch, but in reality both are the same thing. And these people have no clue about this.
I have not write checks for years, don't see point of using checks because I knew how system works.
