How many of you are membership with AAA? AAA Auto Insurance? I'm curious, because I am auto insuring with state farm, and they kept changing the 6 month policy every month even I have a clean record. I'm sick of it.

That's not good if they keep changing it every month. I know it is common that they will change your policy if you got into a wreck or a really bad driving ticket.

I have allstate. I used to have nationwide. Both are ok and did not change my policy at all. Mom had a bad experience with State Farm too but I have no idea why she stayed with them.

My husband and I are thinking about signing up for AAA road side service but I don't know if you are talking about that.
 
We've never had AAA. We have State Farm for the Jeeps and van (multi-vehicle rate), and Foremost for the motorcycle. All our vehicles have full coverage and road service/towing included. We have clean driving records, which helps, but we live in a state with high rates, which hurts. We also have State Farm for the house (no claims so far), so that brings down the rate a little bit.

I guess the best thing for you to do is get quotes from several companies and compare the rates for comparable coverage.
 
I'm an AAA member for 19 years..

Three choices:
A) Insurance for 9 months.
B) Pay full yearly.
C) Sometimes, down payment $200 and lower payment monthly.
 
Own state farm for many years and no problem with it. It gave us a big discount due own house, own cars, and soon motorcycles. All in one. :)

changing as in... what? changing the terms of policy or changing rates higher and higher?

My original State Farm cost was $90 in June, and I had no idea I had a speeding ticket in 2009, and then they increased from $90 to $110 because of that. I called DMV in DC, MD, VA to find out, and all three of them said I have a clean record. State Farm said it is on the computer, and won't change until DMV clear them all. I called DMV again and they said they are not on the computer. I asked State Farm again to see which state I got ticketed, they said "outside state", not say which state. My rate is $110. My State Farm sent me another bill cost me $145.00 due to change zip code. I live in very nice area, including underground parking with security gate. I gave up, and switched to AAA today. They cost me $115/month for 12 month, I'm all good. One thing I was like wtf about AAA, because you have to be AAA membership ($54) in order to join AAA insurance, but I know AAA do provide good membership service since I'll travel a lot in West Coast in 2011.

w.......o.........w......... you're complaining about $115 for 12 months? I wish I can complain like that because it costs around $600+ in here. My motorcycle is about $220 a year - full comprehensive coverage.

$115/month for 1 year.

I have an older car, so maybe that's why it is less. Also, we have multiple vehicles, and our house with State Farm. I think married people also get a lower rate.

I could get insurance even cheaper if I didn't have full coverage and towing, and if I kept my Jeep in the garage. South Carolina has high insurance rates, statewide.

our car insurance is under my family's name. For 2 cars - it's about $1,700 per 6 months from High Point Insurance (1 full coverage and 1 limited coverage) :mad2:

I'm currently shopping around for another insurance. $1,700 per 6 months is just... unsustainable.
 
I'm currently with Progressive and pay $156 a month for my Bimmer. It's cheaper than Geico and AllState, I know that. Not sure about the others. Will look into AAA someday.
 
I checked with Hubby this morning. He pays monthly for his combined work van and Jeep Commander, $146 (full coverage, plus towing).

I pay for my Jeep Cherokee $486 per year.

So the total, per year, for our three vehicles under State Farm is $2,238. That would be $186.50 per month for three vehicles, if we paid it that way.
 
It take about 5 years (could be more or less but that what I remember) for your ticket to clear out. Yes, speeding tickets do raise insurance rates. It did for me.

people with a driving record (or people who just started driving) have higher insurance rates. My ex had a reckless driving record and hardly any insurance will take him. He has to go to a special high risk insurance company who made him paid very high a month.
