Hearing test for a 2 year old?

Well, my son is two and hardly talks. He prefers to sign. Our immediate family is all hearing, but I signed to him since he was a baby. He had to have an evaluation because he doesn't talk much. The therapist seems to think he may be hard of hearing because of the way he talks. I know he can...

anybody who can hear, how do u explain this?

I will try to do my best to explain how I perceive these sounds: Bird singing: light musical tone. It reminds me of a twinkling star, only heard intead of seen. in a crowded bar: Just really indistinct murmuring, kinda like static. a jet flying above ya: almost like a huge rush of...

    Real Estate

A house is definetly a good investment. But beware of duplexes or multi-family properties. They can be cheap to buy, but really hard to sell when the time comes. My dad has worked in real estate for a long time, and that's what he tells me. We are closing on our first home in less than a...

How do you feel about "deaf wannabees"?

I honestly think this would have to be some sort of mental illness or personality disorder. I just find it bizarre. It's a case of "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it". LIke when I was a small child, I thought it would be neat to have a broken leg and get crutches and have...

    Household chores

I vote for vacuum. I like it because I use the vacuum a lot with my messy son who sprinkles crumbs everywhere. I just let him make a big mess then I can vacuum it all up in less than a minute. He's just a toddler, so he can't help his messy self. Plus, I use the vacuum for sucking up all the...

I hang most things to dry year-round. I have a clothesline in my basement where the laundry is. I will use the dryer for a few minutes to get the wrinkles out though.

How many people here are NOT deaf?

Well, as a hearing person, there are certainly times when I wish I could "turn off" my hearing for a while. Like when my hubby is snoring away in bed, or when the baby cries and whines during and car trip and you can't very well stop to cuddle him every 5 minutes like he wants. Or when you're...

Sweet Drinks Linked to Preschool Obesity

I have always limited my kids juice intake. My doctor even told me I should serve some juice, but I worried about the sugar on their teeth. I felt if they wanted fruit, then they can eat it. We always have apples, bananas and grapefruits in the house. I wish WIC would give vouchers for canned or...

    Fast Food Resturant Drive-Thru

I think it would be great for the drive thrus to have a touch screen for ordering. I'm hearing and those speaker boxes are difficult to hear sometimes because it makes the speech very garbled. I lost my voice from an infection once and couldn't use the Drive-thru at taco Bell. Too bad it...

How many months or years apart are your kids?

My kids are 6 years apart. It is very nice. My older daughter is like a second mother to my little boy. She even changes diapers and feeds him his sippy cup. The bad thing is how he cries when she leaves him for school! He tries to peep out the door to follow her.
