JEEZ @ Hearing People & Customer Services!

I like that t-shirt that says 'I'm deaf, if you're screaming at me then you're stupid' I'd wear that if I was :deaf:

    Deaf or Blind?

I would rather be deaf. At least when you're deaf you can still see (read) signs and lipread at times too. Also you can write things down and communicate that way (to someone who doesn't know sign language) I'd hate not being able to see where I was going. That'd be scary.

    Responsibility for children

Well I have a 1 year old and a 3 and a half year old. I don't expect anything from the 1 year old yet as far as cleaning/responsabilties go (shes too young) but the 3 and a half year old I expect her to clean up after herself like put away toys, put her bowl/plate in the sink. She loves helping...

What is it like to be hearing?

Well I can't compare the two as I have never been deaf or hoh (I'm pretty sure blocking my ears is not the same thing). I guess the good part about being able to hear is just that, being able to hear. Knowing whats going on around me (not to say that deaf people don't either) and hearing nice...

From a person that hates deaf people.

    I am speechless. :eek3::mad::(

Has this happened to you QQ

Oh my God what an asshole. I hope you are ok. I would be calling someone (child protection/cops) to take those kids off him too cos what if he did it to them? People like that make me so mad.

    G'day all.

I don't plan on going back to work until my kids are both in school so I have 5 years to kill, do you think 5 years would be long enough to learn it fluently (provided I get involved with the deaf community on a regular basis)?

    some hearing people still thinks....

I find the term 'deaf and dumb' rude and I'm a hearie. Once my sister and I were at my grandparents, we were watching a movie (can't remember which one) and there was a boy on there who was deaf, he was using sign language (maybe ASL, cos it was American but I can't be sure) my grandmother says...

    G'day all.

Sign language (Auslan) is something I've always had an interest in. It would be good if everyone knew it then we could all communicate with one another. Does it take a long, long time to learn?

    G'day all.

I would like to do that, how do I get involved though. The only few deaf people I have ever met is at my friend's church but I only go when I see her.

    G'day all.

Hi everyone I am Cassie, I'm from Australia and I am going to learn Auslan (Australian sign language) next year as it would be good to be able communicate with deaf people. I have two kids who are 1 and 3 so I'm a stay at home mum at the moment but I used to work in a daycare center. I would...
