We've got 3 more moderators coming here...

*sunspenseful music*

HMM it would be nice if I was one of the 3 new moderators announced.. but any guess is good as well.. we will have to wait see if Alex will make that announcement shortly....

I wonder how do you become moderator? I dont mind being one actually because I'm always on here and I never have anything to do haha.

That's up to Alex to choose who would be the moderators. So we all are eager to hear the annoucement...

Does Alex choose based on his decision or does he ask for volunteers? How does that work?

I think Alex has to decide for the people who is active/regular members on alldeaf.com and relies to the rules and all. I don't think anyone who applies/asks to be a moderator. "When leasts expects to"

If he choose me.. I'll be bitch'n you around.. Nah.. Kidding!

I think suitable for Reba, Northstar and Chase

wait and see....
until find it out reveal...

If suppose choice: Moe, Larry, and curly... I'll be end up lauff'n stock for sure!

I dont think its volunteer based. In order for the forum to continue running smoothly, Alex needs to base his decision for new mods on how long the member has been here, the type of posts they make, how often they post and their overall personality, ability to make sound judgement and of course he needs to also be able to trust them with very important forum information as well their confidentiality in discussions with other mods. Think of it as being promoted to a supervisor at work. There's more to it other than having the power to close threads and temporarily ban certain members. (Although Alex is the only one that can permanently ban a disruptive member)

:dunno:

I looked it up for some kind of rules in support section. All i know is Alex handpicked people to be Mods all by himself, look like no applying for it or anything. And one post I found when searching said if you mentioned that you want to be Mod he wont pick you... I think he was lying :dunno2:

How those thing work? I'll guess maybe he PM few of people he like and ask if they want to be Mod then train them since i see sub-forum said "training" and then give them offical Mod title when they "graduate??

I think what he means by not picking you if you say you want to be a mod is that he doesnt want someone in that postion that's just looking for the 'perks' or is power hungry. Makes perfect sense in my opinion. As for me Im not sure I would even want to be a mod anyway once you get right down to the nitty gritty of it.

yeah but what if you were mature and respectful and its not the "power" you seek for and would like to help alldeaf out? Dunno since if thats the case about if you mentioned that you want to be one he wont pick you thing was true then look like I'll never be one because I mentioned that I dont mind being one in earlier post before I search for more info in support.. oh well.

Now, I'm going to be straightforward and list some of the things that will NOT make you a moderator:

- If you're just looking for "power" by being a moderator, forget about it not here.

- If you were mentioned in our watch list in the Mod's Corner and were banned in the past, then most likely we don't want you in our mod team. Those that have continuously attacked a moderator in the past are automatically not considered.

- If you're not willing to stay neutral at all times, or at least TRY your best to be, then you're better off staying as a regular member.

- If you have made members uncomfortable being around you since you joined AllDeaf because of your negative attitude, then that's usually not a good sign.

- If you're not an active member and have made little contribution to AllDeaf, then sorry but the moderator position is not for you.

- If you know you're too busy and probably won't have time to moderate for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, then that's understandable but the moderator position may be a little too much for you.

The problem with being a Moderator is that you won't be able to participate fully on different threads as one is being busy "moderating". Simple: look at Bear. Before she seemed to be an active member on the forum and now that she is a Moderator, we don't get to see her often. :(

Reading people's posts to make sure they are following the rules, answering everyone's messages/complaints as well as discuss with other moderators about the rules as it constantly evolves as well as try to understand other perspectives on the issue especially if it conflicts with your own morals and values. And you must have a thick skin as people do constantly criticize Moderators/Administrator for un-popular decisions.

Once you finished doing the above, it's time to log off, have dinner and go to bed!

Deaf Moderator.. I rather deaf only.. Ok ? :ty:

:afro:

M-

What you mean "Deaf" Mods? Like No CI or HA wearer, or ASL only Deaf or anyone with any kind of hearing loss oralist, ASL, CS or etc doesn't matter?
Just wondering what you mean by that, I'm sure some other does too.

I think you better not to do some fingerpointing with the others. Scubaladytx is just referring to herself. (no offense)

Alex, your keeping us all in suspense when will you annouce the new 3 mods? (ticking clock) :giggle:
