Anyway.. It's my first old eassy, it's almost three and half years ago. That was time I was a member of Creationism Club page, I did post with it there. I thought it could be nice if I share with you guys. :D

Here's my eassy.

Methuselah Data Error
Written by LilKabbitz05
May 2006

That reason was because of some skeptic people picked on me when I re-told the common story about Noah and the Flood to some Christians yesterday (well, they were actually asked me about Noah’s Ark and the Flood). It was Methuselah’s time that they pointed at. I honestly don’t know when and what is a date of Flood or those biblical people’s birth and death dates. I, however, will do my best to explain as clear as I can. At that point, they claimed that Methuselah could survive during the time of Flood, and there was also a date error they claimed too.

First off, there is no way have a date error or Methuselah could survive the Flood. But how? I made a timeline for the Bible’s Flood event as an example. I went to start with Jared to Noah bloodline and to set it up with “0” to “1546” for timeline. If you are wondering why I skipped some information from Adam to Jared, because it’s too long to tell.

Genesis 5:15 - 31, 7:9-11, 9:28-29 (Old King James Vision)

15 Mahalaleel … begat Jared: … 18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two (162) years, and he begat Enoch: … 20 All the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years (962) and died.

Okay, you see… Jared was born to Mahalaleel only 162 years before Enoch. I made an zero on the timeline for Jared’s “birth” date and at 162 years old when Enoch was born to Jared. Enoch also had Methuselah when he was 65 years old, but he didn’t die. Because God took him since Enoch was fully faith in Him and was always walked with God. So, I don’t count his age when he was taken. I only added a number, “65”, when Enoch had a child (not a firstborn child as they claimed). See the next one...

BIRTHS
0 - Jared was born to Mahalaleel.
162 - Enoch was born to 162-year-old Jared.

DEATHS
962 - Jared died at 962 years old.

21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years (65), and begat Methuselah: … All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years (365): … 24 God took him.

So, I added Methuselah's "birth" date to that...

BIRTHS
0 - Jared was born to Mahalaleel.
162 - Enoch was born to 162-year-old Jared. ( 162 + 65 = 227 )
227- Methuselah was born to 65-year-old Enoch.

DEATHS
962 - Jared died at 962 years old.

25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years (187), and begat Lamech… 27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine: and he died (969).

I added Methuselah's "death" date and his son's "birth" date.

BIRTHS
0 - Jared was born to Mahalaleel.
162 - Enoch was born to 162-year-old Jared.
227- Methuselah was born to 65-year-old Enoch. ( 227 + 187 = 414 )
414 - Lamech was born to 187-year-old Methuselah.

DEATHS
962 - Jared died at 962 years old.
1196 - Methuselah died at 969 years old. ( 227 + 969 = 1196 )

28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years (182), and begat … 29 Noah… 31 all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years (777): and he died. 9:29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years (950): and he died.

Add Noah's "birth and death" dates to that list, and I, again, added Lamech's "death" date.

BIRTHS
0 - Jared was born to Mahalaleel.
162 - Enoch was born to 162-year-old Jared.
227- Methuselah was born to 65-year-old Enoch.
414 - Lamech was born to 187-year-old Methuselah. ( 414 + 182 = 596 )
596 - Noah was born to 182-year-old Lamech.

DEATHS
962 - Jared died at 962 years old.
1191 - Lamech died at 777 years old. ( 414 + 777 = 1191 )
1196 - Methuselah died at 969 years old.
1546 - Noah died at 950 years old. ( 596 + 950 = 1546 )

Okay! I finally completed their “birth” and “death” dates for the timeline. Phew! Anyway… I want to say one more thing. Noah do have three children who obeyed God because they believed in Him, however, there is possible that Noah also had more children than just three children (Shem, Ham, and Japheth) that didn’t follow nor believe in God neither.

Now I made a simple information here…

BLOODLINE OF JARED AND NOAH
0 - Jared was born to Mahalaleel.
162 - Enoch was born to 162-year-old Jared.
227- Methuselah was born to 65-year-old Enoch.
414 - Lamech was born to 187-year-old Methuselah.
527 - Enoch left the Earth with God at 365 years old; no death date.
596 - Noah was born to 182-year-old Lamech.
962 - Jared died at 962 years old.
1191 - Lamech died at 777 years old.
1196 - Methuselah died at 969 years old.
1546 - Noah died at 950 years old.

Now... Take a look here. V V V

7:6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

I added Noah’s “birth” date, 596, to the number, 600, is 1196. That was time of the Flood when he was 600 years old.

1196 - Methuselah died at 969 years old; the time of Flood
1546 - Noah died at 950 years old.

Clearly, there is no date error for Methuselah or he could survive the Flood.

In entirely fact, Lamech was died only five years before the Flood. However, the Bible didn’t tell me how Methuselah died. He may be either killed by the Great Flood or was possibly died of old age before the time of Flood as I presumed. For your information, I did count it four times to make sure I don’t make a mistake, even I did double check. Therefore, there is NO date error I made. :)

Come and discussion! What's your thought on this? :D:D

Methuselah died before the Flood happened. It doesn't matter if it was just one day before. The important point is that he died before God's judgment of the earth began.

Genesis 5
27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

969 years? Yeah, I would say he died of really old age! :P

Yea, Methuselah died at the same year of the Flood, I don't know what month or day. :dunno:

Yea Reba he was old aged. :)

I think the age parts in the Bible is a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

100 years ago, the average live span was under 40 years.

How is it that everyone lived over 500 years, then today we can barely get over 100 years.

If the Bible was really telling the truth, then the only other reason would be that the Bible didn't follow the same calendar as we do. For all we know, they probably had 5-month calendars or something.

Reba-
Oh, I now get it. Thanks for correct me. I need that. ;) Heh, I can't imagine if somebody else who lived more than a thousand years old. Oh, so holy moly! :D

Cheri-
Yeah, me too. Because, obviously, the Bible did not mention it. Mmm.

In early 90's, I had came across this myself when I was trying to find the year of the creation. I had often wondered if he died just before the flood or in the flood. The Bible didn't mention his fate. If you goggle it, you will find a lot of links on that.

Man's body was originally created to last for eternity but the day that Adam and Eve disobeyed God, that was the day their bodies began the dying process. They still lived a long time but no where near an eternity.

For many generations the people continued to live long ages in a protected environment. However, even the environment was effected by man's fall into sin.

Genesis 3
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

The environment continued to deteriorate to its most dramatic crisis--the loss of its vapor canopy during the Flood. From that point on, the living conditions on earth changed drastically.

Also, sin continued to tear down man's spirit, society, and body. Before the Flood, God warned:

Genesis 6
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

God told man that the new "average" age would be lowered to 120 years. (That was the age of Moses, for example.)

Since the time of Moses, our bodies have continued a downward slide. In recent generations, it appears that we have increased our longevity because of advances in medicine, nutrition, and hygiene. But that's deceptive. Without modern medicine to patch up our wounds and cure our ills, the general condition of our bodies is weaker now than in past centuries. Are humans really any more hardy now than they used to be? Or are they weaker and more dependent on medical care? :hmm:

As for calendars, suppose they did use 6-month calendars instead of 12-month. So, Methuselah lived ONLY 484 years instead of 969.

Now I able to complete my post..

I don't mind to explain it how it possible if you are curious why. :)

Here I go.

When there were many re-told stories of the Flood event by Noah's own descendant right after the time of Flood. A story always will changed differently like a gossip in a high school (Explain: Disney stories are from Grimm Brothers, they were re-told their stories because of dark parts that people did not want kids to know.). The truth story became a flaw information and faded in a fairy tale story.

That's why this story of Noah's ark is one of the most misunderstood part in the Bible. This true account of God's saving Grace is oftenly dismissed as a fairy tale story, and often unfairly ridiculed.

Same thing with Methuselah Error they made a claim. When people, who lived for 900 years, died from the Flood and, Noah's surviving descendant began to forget the age they lived for long a time. Due to the atmoshpere decay to shorten the human race's lifespan... How?

For explaination ---

You know who Adam and Eve are, right? When Adam died at 930 years old, be remember, he had no belly button because of God created them (A & E) and they didn't born to mother. Right? Okay, there were too many people who had a belly button while Adam & Eve were alive with no belly button. When they died, their children and their children's descendants slowly began to forget Adam and Eve were once existed. It got them to led them to believe Adam and Eve as a myth story and passed it to a fairy tale story. There goes for age-changing people while their decendants passed on other descendants until they were finally reduced their ages in the between of 40-50 years old.

Well, for an another explain-- Be remember, there was no technical tools. So, if there are so many people are living only 100 years old while there are very several people are lived more than 200 years old. Let's be pretend that you are 250 years old. You are also a rare person who lived so longer than them. Do you think they will believe in you because of your age?

That is how the truth story had changed differently and muptiply re-told by the descendants of Noah. That reason was no one could remember excatly WHEN it changed everything each time by time.

It's pretty interesting, right? :D What's your thought on that? It's not matter if you are believe in or not, as long as any comment should be related to the time of Flood, Methuselah error, and Longsity.

PS- I still do enjoy to reseach and discuss about the longsity because it's actually my favoritve part of the Bible. ;)

Wow, good thought. I agreed pretty much. :)

Do you mean Methuselah, right? If not, who is he?

I only accpet any comment, here, is related to:
- Noah and the Flood
- Longsity
- Methuselah Error

Come and discussion as you wish!

Yes, you were talking about Methuselah.

Alright. Methuselah was died before the Flood, so his death was caused by old age. See the #2 post.

Really, we don't know how or why did he die for. He must be -very- lucky because he didn't have to deal with the Flood that God sent. :P

Right, God had a good reason with Methuselah.

Yes indeed very lucky. Lol I don't know much about Methuselah, my favorite part is the flood of Noah ancient time, because I really understood why God did what He did.
