The remake of the "Bionic Woman" to be shown this fall on the NBC network will involve some sign language. Unfortunately for all of us, the signing will be by a hearing actor that plays out a "deaf" role.

It is the same old Hollywood discrimination against deaf actors.

Wonder what Marlee Matlin thinks of this?

Where did you get those informations?. If so then post link here.

I see your point but as in any business venture.....the people in control are going to do whatever they think will make them the most money. It isn't necessarily an intentional discriminating choice. Maybe if there were more deaf actors to choose from it may have happened differently.

That doesn't mean that they are discriminating against deaf actors.

I don't think that's discrimination. There are a handful of deaf actors so it's hard to select who is the best role for that type of film. Film industry isn't the greatest place to get jobs because you get picked once every few years at a time. That gal might be the right one they think it's best for that film, so I doubt it's discrimination. There's thousands of hearing while there's maybe under 10 deaf actors on average.

I also don't think it's discrimination either. :dunno:

I watch Bionic Woman on tv series long time ago. Similar like six million dollars man.

It is not about deaf person. It is about cyborg person. Deaf role??? Really??

I need more details about this. I will look up on website of NBC network.

Supposedly, the sister on the show is deaf. Rumor is that later she gets a "bionic implant" that lets her hear. Sounds to me like the role will be more "hearing" than "deaf." But also it sounds like this will be a magical type of CI, if they expect a supposed deaf person to get a CI-type device late in life and magically be like a hearing person. ::shrug:: I'm willing to see how it turns out before making a real judgement.
