Everytime I take a bath during the wintertime, and my skin become very dry or itchy ( almost feel like an ant or a little bug bitten my legs, back or arms etc ...)

Is it because of the weather outside or the soap you buy or from the water itself or from the clothes soap after you washed your clothes?....

I've been adding baby oil when I take a bath, sometimes it would help but sometimes it doesn't , just wondering if any of you have the same problem?..

Yes, Could be from Winter that brings cold temperatures and dries your skin. winter dry skin care should involves moisturization, (sp?) why not try some lotion that would moist your skin to stop the itches and scraping. and try avoiding soaps that have scent, why not stick with gentle non-soap, much as Dove. :)

i have that same trouble EVERY winter -- its cuz of no natural humidity in the air -- gotta use lotion -- i tend to use the one that is for severely dry skin -- works well for me after my showers

i dont think its the *soap* try using those with aloe vera or similar then put on lotion after ur showers/baths

Yep.. Im from Cali, and never had a problem till I moved here to Illinois where it's colder... I have to put lotion on every morning after I take a shower. Arrgh.

TRUE humidifier does also help too! :thumb: glad u mentioned that Scuba!

What kind of lotion you guys use?...and which one works the best?

I never had that problem here because it never gets that cold or dry to rob my skin of moistness.

But I do know that it is better to cut down on baths/showers...bath/shower every other day and put in baby oil in water. Then add lotion afterwards.

Cream works better than lotion.

Thanks Tweetyie, Meg and the others as well... :grouphug:

I will buy the baby lotion first to see if it works for me! ;)...

DRY SKIN - http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/dry_skin.html

"1. Each day when you take your bath or shower, try to use lukewarm water. Hot water dries out the skin. Try to limit your time to fifteen minutes or less in the bath or shower. Bathing should be done no more than once a day. If you bathe too frequently you will remove the natural oils from the skin causing dryness."

I have the same problem, but my skin is *always* dry due to one of my side effects in hypo-thyroidsim.

:werd: to what everyone has said. I won't repeat since it's all been said already.

Try some of the suggestions already stated, or try a moisturizing soap. I used to have the same problem when I lived in Maryland. Drove me nuts, too! :giggle:

I have the opposite problem now since I moved to FL. I've gone from having dry skin to having very oily skin due to all the humidity here.

I tell ya! I can't win!

Honestly, weather or location have nothing to do with it. Well, that's what I understand from medical point of view.

Two well-known factors:

1) did not consume enough 'good' fats. 'Good' fats will moisturizing our skins, our cells, our organs, etc... If having the dryness problem. It can be track down to not enough 'good' fats. (Some people said that drinking the water or juice will help the dryness problem but in fact, it does not).

2) Cheap or unnatural chemical soaps tend to cause the dryness problem. It is well-known cause. Buy natural soap like Dr. Bronner's soap. You can check at http://www.drbronner.com/soaps.html - I used that soap for many years (thanks to my mom for that knowledge)... I never have the dryness problem whenever I am done with washing the dishes or whatever.

I moved from Cal to east coast and lived there for only one year... I don't have any dryness problem because of 'good' fats I consume daily and high-quality soap like Dr. Bronner's. I just want to share my experience and my medical point of view.

Cheers!
