Simple Things That Make You Go "Ugh!"

It's the conversation that is distracting, not the device one uses, either handheld or hands free.
I've known this for years .

And it's why I do not allow myself to be distracted by my phone or tablet when on the move.

I agree. Merely holding something (phone) in your hand is not the distraction. I refuse to text anymore while driving, not because I have to look at the phone in my hand, but just thinking about the conversation that's taking place. It can wait until I get to work.

should be arrested and license revoked

Late this morning I was on Ravenswood, and I had the misfortune to hear the Metra blow their horn fairly close to where I was standing. That's not something I particularly enjoy.

Think of what it sounded like to those with no hearing loss! I had family that lived within 3 blocks of an active crossing. We didn't even think about it but another relative that sometimes visited from Washington DC did.

Well, they blew that horn for safety reasons. Keep in mind that they are building a new Ravenswood station AND putting in a new track, and by law, they're required to do so, and I knew why they did it, and I got that part, but it was bad timing by me.

I was out with my last dog and totally forget that the nuke plant in NH was going to test all of it sirens at once. I almost fell off my feet and run into the court house and the cop looked , I told him I was trying to get away from sounds , thanks goodness the cop did not arrest or shot me for running so fast pass the metal detector . The court house was the only building around the cop let us wait until the sirens stopped. It was so painful .

NOTHING get me standing near on on rail track....I walk miles out of my way to avoid level crossing

I know what you mean about sirens, they do make me feel like I'm going to fall, make me very dizzy. I do turn my hearing aids off as soon as possible!
That's certainly an ugh, the sound of sirens.

Person I am living with said this to me tonight

" I don't use full load on washer cause it wears out the machine."

I so much wanted to say to her that it will wear out with small load or large loads. It is designed to handle large loads as long as it isn't overfilled. It is the use and age that wears them out, not using large load as designed.

I bit my tongue tho cause I don't think she would accept that.

Ugh!

Try this ... by washing multiple smaller loads it works the machine more and will wear out faster than washing full loads of less time being used. Say 2 small loads equals 1 large load means the washer runs half the time it does for 2 smaller loads.

That mean you're using more water to do more loads and that is going to cost more $$$ . Maybe you could try explaining that to the person if you guys pay your own water bill . Good luck!

Do you really think she'll listen to that when she just said she believes that?

I've learned over time it is just a waste of breath trying to explain things like that to people that believes certain things.

She pays the water bill so it don't cost me any more money. However I'm just gonna do my own thing and do full load when I wash my own clothes. She can do whatever she wants with her own clothes.

Similar as to what I experienced on another CTA bus, but this $#!& noise sounds like a dentist's drill.

Did you notice that I said "good luck"

Oh yuck. I would have screamed. LOL. there's many houses around here decorating for Halloween, and one house has fake cobwebs all over the house with many giant fake spiders (like 4 feet long!) and I can't bear to look at that house LOL
