We have a friend who recently had shingles, and his was mostly on his head (he is bald, so it was easy to see), and there was serious concern when it got near his eye. It stopped spreading very close to his eye, and his vision was protected but it was a close call.
I'm going to try to get it thru VA or TriCare.

I've lived in suburbs, small towns and cities. I've never lived in a large city. When we lived in Wisconsin it was on a logging trail off a two-lane road, in a log house. The town was Egg Harbor, near Sturgeon Bay, and the year-round population was a few hundred. More cows than people.
You might not have the same condition.Paranoid. I've been reading a persons story about an injury that led to bone death and he will have voluntary foot and lower leg amputation to get rid of the pain and allow him to walk again with a prosthetic leg.
So now I'm worried that my continued knee pain is a sign of bone death and that I might have to have my legs amputated.

My son-in-law is a below-the-knee amputee (industrial accident). He's very active with an amputee support group. He's met quite a few amputees who had voluntary amputations, usually after years of struggling with surgeries and pain. They all say, "I wish I had done this (amputation) years ago." It seems weird but it's true.
That's not to say that's the solution for you. Most people do NOT need amputation.
Yes, sometimes we get too much information from the Net.
