True. Same here for me. Most deaf people think I am hearing when I sign. It is more indicative of your first language than your hearing status.

and in answer to your question, yes, that is another way of putting it. 



But I did not hear the kind of speech that was portrayed in the post I was responding to. That was a bit more than dialect.
