Are you saying that BSA isn't for everyone? I don't know that they are associated with religious but I think that they are scouts organization and anyone is free to join to honor the citizenship so supposed to be neutral to me.

For church, I'm totally understand about church so I don't agree that they should forced to accept atheist/agnostic as pastor because atheist/agnostic and religious are very different and they are exempt from anti-discrimination laws to prevent any conflicts with religious views. If anyone disagree with them so they are free to avoid and not support them.

I started in cub scouts and stayed cause I had many friends in it. And camping is one of my favorite things to do. There were no other places to join to go camping like the scouts did at the time.


My religious views and my friends sexuality were things that we were both struggling with at the time. Being in scouts actually made it worse for both of us because we both felt like we had to hide a part of who we were. Its not like I woke up one day and decided to change my religion. It took years of thought.

If you don't agree that the church should be forced to accept atheist/agnostic person as pastor/Bishop/etc.... then there's absolutely no reason for you to get angry at BSA for not accepting homosexuals as Boy Scout leaders. BSA is a private organization with specific policy so anti-discrimination law does not apply.

What does the Boy Scout have against atheists and agnostics ? It sound like they are very narrowed minded . What about Jewish boys , are they allowed to join boy scout? I do not think it a big deal Obama not going . I read Ronnie Reagan did not go all the time too.

Yes and no. They join the Jewish Boy Scouts which works exactly the same and has ties to the organization. And they can be very narrow minded. It all depends on who is the troop leader.

because Boy Scout has an oath requiring the members to be morally straight and to pledge one's duty to God. All this outrage is not making any sense to me. It's unfounded and ridiculous. I don't know why ya'all got a beef with Boy Scout Association. It's a private organization with no federal funding and it has its specific policy. Same thing with any religious organization and any other private organization. They are not homophobic or discriminant. It's simply an organization with specific requirement. Nothing wrong with that.

If you got a problem with that - then go ahead and make a similar organization with different policy.

Are you going to demand Klu Klux Klan to accept black people and comply with anti-discrimination law? or Hells Angels to accept car enthusiasts? or a deaf organization to allow a hearie with no ASL as the President of the club?

Yeah , that is true , my daughter wanted to be a brownie and she had one leader that ask my daughter why she was going to an Unitarian church and reading a bible! The leader did not think Jewish people read a bible! We wrote the bible. , Do they have a meeting for only Black boys too ? What do the boy scout think will happen if the Jewish boys go the same troop with the
Christian boys, they go to the same school . I can see why people are against the Boy scout. I wonder if this why Omaba does not want to go to the meeting.

If Obama doesn't believe in the organization, then he should publicly say so and refuse to be honorary leader of the Boy Scouts. He hasn't said that, so until he does we'll have to accept whatever excuse he gives for not attending the anniversary celebration.

Do racist get your support? Here is a fact. Obama will welcome to the White House a basketball team fro a high school that is 98 percent black, the other 2 percent is Hispanic. The boys basketball team is all black. This is because the area this high school is located in is almost all black, mostly by pride and choice. There is no other high school nor any grade level school that come close to being one race but the school might be in a one-race area. This is due to the fact (proven) that if a high school is located in an area that is mostly white, then students are bussed into that scholol to make it a mix race school. Can you imagine allowing a school 98 percent white....in your dreams. However, this black high school is allow to be as it is and no bussing is done (proven) and the basketball team will be honored(?????) by Obama!!! Why the hell is he not calling them out and putting a stop to this? Simple...racism by black is ok...racism by white is forbidden.

I am glad that Obama missed Boy Scouts 100th anniversary. I am sure if Obama had a son, he won't let his son attend Boy Scouts club..

I did not hear any thing about this on the news , did Obama say why he was not going? I did not know he was a honorary leader of the Boy Scouts . The whole is thing is silly to me anyway. I think Obama has more importance things to worry about than going to a boy scout meeting .

I have notice that you have always tried to explain "what If?" when it comes to racism in other threads. You are still discriminate against Blacks and Hispanics when you are talking about basketball which has nothing to do with the Boy Scouts of America. It is up to the President Obama's decision, even if he is the honorary member of the BSA.

It seem to me that BSA did not want him to attend the Jamboree at all for a reason maybe because he is different and black. And because he has never been a Boy Scout himself. That is very offensive. I guess this is why he decide that he does not have to attend the Jamboree if they don't him there. :hmm:
 
been in boys scout when I was a kid and it was kinda fun. I got injured, suffered thru no interpreter, etc. etc.

The White House said Tuesday that the fundraisers, not the TV appearance, prevented the president from attending.

Is that suppose to be the BSA fundraisers? :hmm:
