ASL with no fingerspelling

Souggy that maybe in your area but NOT where I live In Toronto. No I haven't wasted a lot of time wandering the entire Metropolitan Toronto area to find "them". More important things- say reading Alldeaf.com.
Mrs Bucket you can stalk PFH without me- not interested in stalking a sleeping person.

I am guessing Toronto is really special to have a barter system as an integral part of Wal-Marts and McDonald's.

Walmarts and McDonalds part of a "barter system"? I don't shop/eat in either. Thought they took cash/credit cards only. What next to learn in alldeaf.com? Seems they don't do much advertising of their "special feature-bartering". Okay-- only for insiders!

It's even better when they go over people's heads.

Mmm. I'll have to try that at a branch of my bank in lynchburg. It's been taken over by Wells Fargos though.

Having interpreters can be handy if around all the time when one is in social interactions. Hopefully not to expensive to somebody! What happens when they ARE NOT around and the other person/s DOES Not know ASL? Smile!
Helps to be a "Trappist monk" sometimes!

What happens when your Advanced Bionics-Harmony is on the fritz or your batteries die?

My Cochlear Implant "on the fritz"? Batteries: have 8-so far all working, Use 1 battery at day then recharged- use the next one.. If my processor if not working is also duplicated. Yeah I now have 2. The spare one is under "guarantee" for another 3 years.Advanced Bionics I understand has a warranty for 3 years. I just crossed the 3 years period. So far so good!

Do you keep everything in an EMI-proof case?

Me too.

They've also been lost, stolen, and chewed by dogs.

They should be under warranty or insured for a situation like that. My daughter has never been "off air" for more than a few minutes in the last 6 years (4 with hearing aids, 2 with implants). Whenever she has a part that needed repaired or replaced it has been to our home and on her head within 48 hours. She has a back up for each side too. And if you tell AB that you don't have a back up, they have the piece overnight-ed.
