you plans get new computer?

I'm seriously thinking about buying MacBook. ($1k worth in stores)

Or you can check on Apple's Refurbished. Just couple hundred bucks save. Of course, you would have to make sure everything work properly. I have one and it work great after replace first time which was poor. I'm impressive their service is quick solution to get the bad laptop replace to good laptop.

darkage, Won't work for Sara. I bet she still buy Gateway laptop with overprice because she want so.

whoops i meant solid state LOL, yes you're right, static is BAD it zaps electrical parts, and esp computer chips are VERY fragile to those......
sorry i was careless in what i typed i was really tired but yes i knew it was solid state instead of mechanical drives
:)

It's not overprice. That gateway latpop is $550. Care to point on why it's overprice? I'm sure it's bad laptop.

Nah, not buying a new computer anytime soon. I'll have it for a few years. :)

i reckon that for a 2 yo lappy, you're better of having it backed up, rams expanded, and have a clean install of your OS
imo, waste of time to chase new lappys jsut becuase its 2 years old, theres still plenty of useful life left...its not like you're a hardcore gamers are you? (heck hardcore gamers PREFERS desktops with dual or quad graphic cards and rams of at least 4 GIGS , I know of someone with 8 GB of rams, and thats not uncommon !

I think he (XBGMER) was responding to The Highlander's post #10.

Well, 17" laptop can be ok for travel if you have integrated video chipset (like Intel GMA, ATI Radeon Xpress and GeForce UMA) with big capacity of battery.

Gaming laptop for travel wouldn't last longer because of battery limitation, unless you need power inverter for car to plug in or bring more than 1 batteries for travel.

I'm going using MacBook Pro for travel with power inverter to play games and run fan rpm at maximum.

It all depends on individual who want laptop size and power. Sometime I regretted that I should have gotten smaller laptop like 14" or 12" for travelling. In airplane, I am kinda jealous with other passenger near me have smaller laptop than my 15.4 inch widescreen. Because of seating spacing, my laptop doesn't fit and had to set it to "V" position to watch movie. Sucks big time. Smaller laptop would be great for fequent travelling.

Some business or regular users prefer small laptop for ease to carry, light weight, and conceals. Battery life are longer and don't need all those fancy accessories on laptop but just a basic neccessary. Some prefer big laptop for business purpose, studio, or easier on their weak eye.

Catty

What kind travel she do? Airplane? Train? Long trip drive?

Not bad for a good deal :)

The highlander and XGMBER, I know I am not a moderator, either but FYI, take your arguing somewhere else. :)
