You must have filled the computer with junk ---- j/k

The laptop you have now is only two years old? It shouldn't be this old yet. What kind of problem do you have? Do you have anti-virus programs in your computer system? If it's too slow, perhaps you have NOT clean up the files. Have you scan your computer yet? Do you have DSL or Cable? Perhaps you don't need to buy new computer?

try get at least a core2duo , bti dearer but much faster and it would handle Vista like a breeze also try get at least 1.5 GB ram 2Gb ram is the norm these days especially if you are planning to run a Vista desktop
Cheers

you need more than 17 size Widescreen Notebook ... 14' is too small! :dunno2:

Good luck! ;)

hmmmmm, vista isn't crack up to be, its not THAT good, glossy and pretty yes but functionally XP is easier to use
it feels that your computer is 'slow' because it needs more ram, RAMs are cheap, and shops sometimes will fit in more rams for your for free.
also look at sunshine1's advice, get the antivirus and your hdd checked for any virus and you need to learn to keep the desktop clean , dont pile up junk on THAT becuase at boot up it gets REAL slow

What's your current laptop spec (like CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD) and kind of application installed?

17" is very bad idea for travel. My laptop is 13.3" and I am very happy with it for travel and battery life. My battery life around 6-7 hours. 13.3" view looks fine to me for photoshop CS3. If you want bigger LCD then just connection to laptop with 22" LCD. Simple.

Yup, 17" laptop is desktop replacement, not bright idea for travel.

a 15'4 inch is a good compromise for size/battery life, try check for how many battery cells a lappy have, standard ones have 6 cells, good lappys will have 9 , i dunno if theres a 12 or more...?

Graphics cards are great but they tend to sap battery's life too (fans and processing when you play high-end video games), as does if you use DVD/CD drives alot..., heck there's a new generation of laptops out now, but its expensive at the moment, they uses Static drives which is actually a large capacity flash drives instead of mechanical harddrives, great news for battery life BUt at the moment its expensive... and the most ive seen i think its a 76GB awesome though

Need bigger battery then bad idea for travel too due weight.

It's Solid-state drive, not "static drives" static mean kill hardware.

Don't forget about size of microprocessors which smaller size of nanometer is great for battery.

Best way to erase your HD. Then re-install Windows XP. You want to save some files. You can do to save in CD Disk. Then format your HD.

If you plan to buy new computer.
Are you always carry laptop? Get small and lighter weight laptop.
My friend has 17". He complained weight (travel)

If not, they why not take desktop computer for home. Desktop is cheap price to replace motherboard and parts.

I checked.... Almost same tech as mine. Two years ago, I bought it for $399 (no tax in Delaware).

Recently, I helped girl (homeless). She lives in our house. Her age is 17 years old - still high school student. She bought her laptop 15.4", 120gb HD, 2mb memory & Duo-Core T2350 for $449 plus tax.

Keep eye check on Slickdeals.net

My high recommend - IBM Thinkpad but not cheap price.

It's good deal!

I help my friend to get IBM Thinkpad with Duo-cores/Win XP from newegg.com She is very happy with that. IBM Thinkpad is best for speed, designer, and security. It's popular for US Government.
