Wrong to link OBL with Geronimo

Um, Jillio? You happen to have a dictionary close to hand? Might come in useful...

I checked and dispersion is spelled right. What do you have in mind?

I was trying to be nice and ignore that. :giggle:

But you're right, maybe that was intended. :dunno:

So explain it. What is the huge issue about the code name? Does it really matter what his code name was? All that really matters is that he will no longer be directing terrorist activities. The rest of this is just nonsense.

Feeling catty today, Beach Girl?

Or just nothing of value to add to the topic of discussion?

You might want to review forum rules.

Just being catty because she has nothing to add. Some people thrive on that kind of behavior.

Not accusing you of casting dispersions at all
.

Buffalo, Jillio: read the definition of "aspersions" and "dispersion." In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Yep. You are obviously still feeling catty and are drastically off topic. Take a midol.

Maybe it's inaccurate? Some said it's actually Jackpot.

I am actually surprised how inaccurate some initial reports were. Like claiming that Obama's dead for a week and had to wait for DNA to confirm or that he was killed in a missile strike... or that he was in a gun fight. None of them were true.

Osama.

edit: ah, i see it has been called on.

I'm empathizing with the Native Americans who felt slighted, once again, by the connection of one of their historic figures to a heinous terrorist.

I don't know who's responsible for the name choice. I doubt that it was the President. It just seems insensitive.

However, since starting this thread, and reading posts from ADers who mention that they weren't taught about Geronimo in school, that could be a clue to what happened. Whomever was responsible for assigning names, probably was never taught any Native American history in school.

Maybe it's not important to you but some people find it hurtful.

I thought we're supposed to show a little respect for other cultures?

How do you know the connection was to the historical Native American figure and not a reference to the word yelled by skydivers? Just saying...big deal out of nothing. And I am very sensitive to other cultures. That doesn't mean that I automatically agree when I see things blown out of proportion.

How do you know it wasn't referencing the man's name?

It's hilarious when two posters on opposite ends of the political spectrum end up saying the same thing, just worded differently.

How do you know it wasn't referencing the man's name?

I don't. But neither do I know that it is...nor do you or anyone else. This is nothing more than jumping to conclusions.

Why doesn't the White House give their explanation of the choice, and put an end to speculation?

I guess you'll have to ask them that question. Given the events of the last few days, I'm sure they have many other things ahead of that priority wise.

"You be careful. People in masks cannot be trusted".

First of all, it's Native American not Indian. This group of people has the right of self-determination. (Just like I don't want to be called "hearing impaired.")

I'm not surprised because many people are oblivious to insulting cultural appropriation. Like the medical professional who started waiving his hands around when talking about ASL. Completely clueless!
