Woman settles 'toilet phobia' lawsuit

S. African had sued after falling off hotel toilet

JOHANNESBURG - A South African woman has settled a lawsuit in which she claimed to have developed a phobia about toilets after falling off one at a hotel.

Antonia Hart, 59, sued the Sun International hotel chain following the August 2003 incident, asking for 91,000 rand ($14,000) for pain, injury, medical treatment and “loss of amenities,” the South African Press Agency reported.

Hart’s lawyers had accused the hotel of negligence, saying their client toppled off the toilet when it suddenly broke “whilst in normal use for the purposes for which it was installed,” SAPA quoted court papers as saying.

Sun International’s lawyers conceded that the toilet had broken, but said Hart’s husband had signed a liability waiver upon checking in.

“The matter was settled between the parties and the magistrate was informed Monday that an agreement had been reached and that the lawsuit would not proceed,” SAPA said.

Stupid ppl will sue anything on sight. Hell I heard a woman sue Mc Donald cuz she burned her lips cuz the coffee is to hot. I mean comeon woman its coffee its supose to be hot.

Well, now that she has a case of phobia with toilets, where is she gonna do it? If outside, I'll betcha that she will develop MORE phobias...having eery things creeping nearby such as insects and animals.... :lol:
 
Maybe the 14,000.00 she was awarded cured her phobia! :laugh2:

That is a shame that some people go their way suing others over stupid things. and U know accidents do happen U can't just go out suing everyone. Geeze!
