ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A true fan of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin is paying $63,500 to have dinner with her.

Cathy Maples of Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday won the dinner in an Internet auction, which was a benefit for a charity that aids wounded veterans.

Maples says she fully supports the military and the men and women fighting for this nation. Maples, who owns a defence contracting company, also says she's a "big advocate" for Palin, and would love to see her as president.

Palin offered the dinner as part of the charity auction on eBay for the Ride 2 Recovery program, which supports wounded veterans through cycling programs.

Organizers say the winner will have to foot the travel bill to meet up with Palin, likely in Alaska. Maples says that's no problem.

Well I guess it was for a good cause. :dunno:

I wonder if they will eat a moose that Palin shot herself?

I will do it for free-- at the price of a moose in a meatlocker. I haven't had moose meat for a long time.

I just have to figure out how to pretend to carry a conversation without a hearing aid.

If someone paid me $63,500 to eat dinner with her... I would gladly do it.

I'd just turn my hearing aids off.

That is a good idea! I did not not think of that! I would not put a battery in ! Ok I change my mind I will go now ! I would have to wear dark sun glass too so I would not be able to read her lips!

Tell her you lost your voice and HA ! LOL!!

Hey, I wouldn't mind. It'd be interesting to hear what she has to say to my questions. Anytime you get down to chat with a politician, any politician, is a rare chance to really poke around inside their heads for a change.

Go hang out at a bar at Best Western or another popular hotel. Lots of politicians in those places.

You have to pay money to have a dinner with her! I would not pay money to talk to anyone!

I will eat the moose. just like how some of you are gladly eat a chicken from a tormenting chicken farm with one destination-- to be butchered. At least the moose was free to run in the woods before he was hunted down.

beside, I believe we should eat what we hunted. That we should only hunt for survival, not for pleasure.

That reminds me of someone I know. He has a small organic, free-range hog farm. He hand raises them on several shady acres in a quiet rural area. The hogs are allowed to root and feed off the nuts that fall from the pecan trees, in addition to special feed that they get. They roam freely all day. They are only penned in at night for their safety. They are allowed to mate naturally. They are gently put to sleep before slaughter.

Like their farmer says, "They only have one bad day in their lives."

I visited his farm. It's almost like a shady park. It doesn't smell bad because the hogs don't pee and poop in just one concentrated area.
