NEW DELHI, India - An Indian woman committed suicide so her two blind sons could receive her eyes and see, a newspaper reported Monday.

But doctors say the chances of success are bleak, The Indian Express reported.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tamizhselvi’s sons, Kumaran, 17, and Kumar, 15, have been blind since birth.

Doctors in the southern city of Chennai say Kumar’s condition cannot be helped with a cornea transplant and also suspect his elder brother does not have a cornea defect.

“We had told the family earlier itself that a corneal transplant was not needed for the younger son,” the Express quoted hospital official G. Seethalakshmi saying.

Wow, is that wrong or right for her to do that? That is indeed debatable subject for anyone to discuss about.

Well, she shouldn't had killed herself. She simply could had popped her eyes out.

I agree with you. But she only did it for her children that she believe that is right thing to do. I am not defending her at all.. I just found that is very debatable for anyone to discuss.

Killing herself isn't the answer, That leaves the boy without a mother. I understand why she did it, for the love of her son so he could see, but she missing out one point of his life is without her being part of his life, watching him grow-up getting married, seeing her grandchildren.

I don't know about their cultures in India.
Women may think less of themselves
and may think sons are more important.

Some people just don't understand the facts and can't face reality... so they blindly (pardon the pun) commit acts like these.

I second that Cheri, and another thing to look at, she could done another way by helping her son being able to see....but I guess we will never know, will we?... :(

I third that, Cheri!

I can't image that a mother end her life for her sons. She forget quickly that her sons NEED the mother around. What a sad.

I'm not Cheri.... :ugh:

I know you are not Cheri. I only took your post with Cheri's quote to make my post "I third it" because you second Cheri's post. I also agree with Cheri's post and use your post as "I third it, Cheri" . :ily:
