I have heard "Drama Queen" several times, and I wonder what is best explaination what it means? How can you describe a person being a drama queen? Thank you...

drama queen is a girl who acts whiny, paranoid, and pissed off for such weird or silly reasons...

an example like a girl keeps crying and whining why she got dumped by her boyfriend for several days...

she's considered a drama queen.

drama queen

noun {C} DISAPPROVING

someone who gets far too upset or angry over small problems:

- God, he's such a drama queen! I've never seen such a fuss.

From Freesearch

Basically speaking, it's someone who's a 'queen' at being 'dramatic.' To be considered 'dramatic,' you have to overact, usually by exaggerating your gestures, your facial expressions, and your body language so that a person in the back of the audience can get your meaning. It's usually used to get attention.

It usually is a term for females. I have only seen it applied to males when it's a gay person in mind.

Being a drama queen is a negative term that means your "over doing it" when you react to something, for example:

1) Stubbing your toe, then screaming and crying and yelling and throwing stuff
2) Being picked on by friends, then screaming and crying and yelling and throwing stuff
3) Being dumped by someone, then screaming and crying and.... you get the picture.

drama queen
noun
Definition: any person who overreacts to a minor problem or situation

I believe that the person "a drama queen" is frighten about something, misunderstood about something, or don't know what to do, maybe
a culture shock.

If a tornado is coming your way....
would you stay calm?
No... Unless you had encounter many tornadoes before.

If you found out your spouse (of 20 years of marriage)
is gay, how would you react?
Calm? No I don't think so.

If a person doesn't know how to control his or herself in
a situation. Just want to understand, very confuse and hurt by something.
Just want to talk to somebody.

This indeed is exactly is the definition of a drama queen. It is typically a female and she needs or craves attention pure and simple. It is all about her. They know exactly what they are doing and it not due to being frightened or out of control.

Drama is an ACTION. A drama queen would go beserk
in public, speaking loud in public.... get upset, letting people stare at you making a fool out of yourself.

While I was waiting for my food order at taco bell...
A woman got mad, "This is not what I order, no never mind...
just give me back my money!!! Look at this, I ain't gonna eat that!"
The manager was trying to calm the woman down....

A 'Drama Queen" is someone who overreacted about something....Dennis provided the perfect examples in his post here. :)

Heartgirl and Nancy,

You both proved my point. A better word is "Acting" which goes directly to the point the word "Drama" in Drama Queen. It is about directing everybody's attention to themselves...what better way to do that. It is not overreacting at all. It is a calculated motivation. There may by some psychological aspects (deeper underlying issues) to it for some of these folks but not all of them.

Whine, complain and always bs talk talk... too much Drama Queen... simlair alike Soap Opera.

There's a lot of drama kings and drama queens on ivisit.com video chat system.

What about "Drama King" for the males ?

Here what the test said about me :D
My score was 10:
You're as cool as cucumber. Even in touchy situations that could spark a theatrical reaction in most people, you seem to stay calm and composed. This likely stems from a rational, logical approach to life. Either that or you are just able to keep a lid on your emotions, even when you're flipping out on the inside. You are generally able to maintain perspective and see the big picture, even when the worse appears to be true. You know that freaking out before you really know what's going on results in the whole "mountains out of molehills" scenario. This is a healthy approach that allows you to cope well with most of life's trials, big and small. As long as you are not blindly optimistic to the point that you ignore trouble, you're coping very well.

Just flip on the tv remote in the afternoon 1:00pm is a good time to the soap opera channel and see what soap opera is all about. You should get the hang of it in about 1 or 2 tv shows what a drama queen means. When I was a kid, my mom, sister and Grandma, especially Grandma loved soap opera. I hated it to the core and wished I could destroy the tv so that it would be mine and not theirs and went outside to play because I could not watch good tv like Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood or something like that with alots of action. I can not believe how boring soap opera can be and do not know how anyone can watch soap opera, man there is something better to do with your time like watching the Discovery Channel or the History Channel or watch learn from construction and carpentery from Bob Villa... Something useful and productive with your time...pick up a good skill or two.

Here is what it says.....I took the test for the hell of it.

40% - figures. I do have a "drama queen" coat...and the personality to match!!!

According to your answers on the test, you are given to the occasional dramatic outburst. You seem to have days when you are calm and rational, yet others when you ride a temporary roller coaster of emotion. Yes, sometimes you overreact. Perhaps you are more sensitive in certain areas, like your love life or health. Or maybe you go a tad over-the-top during certain times of high stress (or fluctuating hormones... and this happens to both men and women!). Whatever the case, it would certainly be beneficial to keep the theatrics to a minimum. Going over-the-top can spice up your life but it also can cause unnecessary stress. When you're on the verge of freaking out, take a deep breath and consider how things fit into the big picture. Is it really worth it?
