What do you do when someone HAS your DOG?

Oh wow! What a mess! Now, ia m wondering if I should get my dog micro-chipped as well.

Good luck! Everyone has great advice so hope everything works out.

I highly recommend it!! My deaf cat (Adam's little buddy) got out last week when I was trying to get ready to go to my mom's... she's microchipped so hopefully someone will be able to find her and takes her for a scan-- she ran so fast, I couldn't keep up w/her to catch her... :( :( a neighbor has seen her in his yard so she's near by just eluding me!!

Thank you guys for the replies. Gabbie and Harpo had collars, we are strong believers in it, unless she's working. Collars and farm equipment don't mix well. (they could get hung up on something.) Harpo was our newest addition and he hadn't even been there 2 weeks. Both dogs are not registered anywhere, and in our town we don't have to have a license to have dogs so we never felt the need to do that. Microchipping sounds like a great idea now, we should have done it, but we are country people, you just don't think things like this is going to happen. We are used to people dumping their animals here, not taking them. Anyways, we may have to take legal action.

This is awful... I'm so sorry!!! Hopefully you can find the dog, and prove she's yours... I never thought about micro chipping my cats either until recently... glad I have the new one 'chipped' just hope someone finds her and scans her!!

Good luck sweetie... sounds like this dog obviously was loved and loved your family!!

Wow, good article!

I hope you get Gabbie back! :)

That article should have a picture of Gabbie though. It would show people that dog. If the new owners saw that article, they would probably realize that they made a mistake and give it back to you.

We did have pictures and a picture of my niece with Gabbie, walking her, hugging her, and me with Gabbie and Harpo together, and Gabbie with her horses too, but the writer didn't feel the need to publish it. grrrrr

I am sorry about your cat. I have had mine do that too, run out the door, it's like they plan their mischevious escape, then of course when they got hungry they always came back home, meowing at the door for Meowmie (Mom) to feed them and forgive them.

I so hope you are able to get your doggie back !! Keep us posted on what happens.

I made a Youtube video to put on our ads, just to kind of help the people to see we aren't bad people.

oh wow that is very good! I will spread it around as well.

1. Make sure you name your youtube title format properly like "Bring Gabbie Home" instead of "BringGabbieHome 0001"
2. add in as many keywords in tag section as you can so that it'll show up in people's random search
3. Your video info - you should type in a couple of small paragraph to explain your heart-wrenching situation because this sounds like your dog's still lost but he's not. You're trying to get him back from current owner.

Jasmine,

I hope the new new owner realizes the mistake and gives the dog back to you when they realize the dog was lost. :(

I hope this video will help and make one realize that one has a special needs and the dog is the one that brings her happiness.

Do keep us posted on the progress.

Great idea, I am new to Youtube. Do you have a background in online marketing by any chance?

Thank you, I sure hope so. It's been forever since I have heard from you. What's new?

Although I work at marketing section, I do not have background in online marketing but I am familiar with it.

Ok, guys I got a response from my ad at craigslist. I got a response already and it was pretty ugly. I think it was the owner and they do NOT want to give Gabbie back. Legally they don't have to. They went on to say I should have had a collar, I should have had a microchip, and I should have been more responsible, blah blah blah. What should I do. Continue to put ads out there or should I just give up?

it's up to you. I'd tell you to continue to get him back but I have to tell you - it's going to get uglier from this point on and it will cause a toll on you.

:(

So the dog didn't have a collar or a tag with his/her name or telephone number in case the dog gone missing? There is nothing more frustrated than finding your dog without a collar or a tag since the dog had no identification, It's up to the other family to either give the dog back to you or not. I'm sorry I wish I had something more positive to say, but it seems that you're at the end of the rope in this situation. I feel bad for you. You made a honest mistake for not putting a collar and a tag on your dog, it can happen to anyone really.

My dog has a collar and a tag, I'm thinking of getting him micro-chipped as I can't afford to lose him, if someone remove the collar or his tag.

Oh my dear, I´m very sorry how you feeling like this. :(

Yes I know you can´t do anything to have Gabbie back if the other owner determine to keep your Gabbie.

To my opinion, it would be nicer if someone return your lost pet to the owners. It´s about respect and honest. I think what the man said to you is not very nice when he know you are looking for Gabbie everywhere via internet, etc. No matter if you should have collar, mircochip, etc. etc. etc. It´s no excuse but you DID spread out Gabbie to Internet to ask for help...

Let me tell you what I know...

I have seen many missing cats on the poster everywhere at supermarket... Most write "Reward €€€€ if you find it......" I think it would be different story if you put Reward $$$ then they would be happy to return your pet to you.

Aww... that sucks! :(

Oh No!! Hope you get dog back!

Its happens to my friends too :(

Don't give up! You aren't sure it's the owners, anyway...but this is part of your family (at least, it sounds like you feel that way) and so, I don't think you'll feel closure if you give up at this point. Keep trying. I don't know what else to do for you but offer a hug and tell you that we support you!
