Dennis said:So, BuckDodgers, and JohnnyE, what's your role going to be in the draft? Are you gonna be the first to join? Or are you going to just sit back and let everyone else die for your freedom?
No one should advocate for a draft unless they are the ones who are going to be first to join and fight. Get on those front lines and die for what you believe in.

I am Deaf myself too so I will be working in a war factory.
I don't mind working in a war factory.

No problem. Thanks for waiting.Eyeth said:Mind if you can clarify a little bit? If you decline, I understand.
Here's the problem. There is no such thing as just "support roles" in the military. Potentially, every member of the military must be ready to serve at, or close to, the front lines. Every member of the military must be able to perform security and rescue operations, and be able to take care of his/her shipmates (buddies). Clerical workers and cooks on ships are also members of the fire-fighting and damage control teams. When the battle stations gong goes off, EVERYONE grabs helmets and gear, and reports for duty. On stateside duty stations, the desk jockeys take their turns standing watch the same as the ground pounders do....Should individuals with disabilities be eligible for military service? I would imagine if they were, they would be assigned to support roles. Even then, what kind of disabilities should be acceptable?
If the military begins having problems filling legal officer billets, they have several options. One, they can mobilize more Reservists (lots of lawyers are Reservists). Two, they can extend tours. Three, they can "civilianize" stateside billets with contract civilians, and send the military lawyers overseas (that's currently common practice in the medical billets).Like, for example, I would love to enroll in the military and work as a Judge Advocate General. They are still advertising job vacancies, and I assume the bulk of them are actually assigned to destinations like Iraq and Afghanistan, hence the reason for these jobs being largely unfulfilled.
