War of The Worlds, an extreme makeover over Steven Speilberg's orginal "War of The Worlds" which was actually his first film he produced when he was only 16 years old at that time with all the cheapest techology and actors, but it was just the begining of Speilberg's gensis work, making quite an relvoutionary in the filming business with such talent actors, well written script, and such imageineable and creative effects like "E.T.", "Mintory Report", and even "War of The Worlds".

yet so many movies he've made are so memoriable and loveable that so many people enjoyed watching and learning and having such emotions when watching his films that he've directed and produced.

"War of The Worlds", starring Tom Cruise (Mission:Impossible, Jerry McMaguire, and The Last Samuria)was the best actor best selected for steven speilberg's next project since "Mintory Report". The story was pretty confusing, but the computer animated effects and the actions, stunts, thrills, and surprises were all an eye popper and jaw dropper and full of gasps and griefs.

It was asbloutely one of the best films I've ever seen this summer and was proably one of the best work I've ever seen so done fairly well by Steven Speilberg, the filming gensis himself.

so Dawgs and Babes, grab on your seat belts and get ready for one of the best summer flicks thrill rides ever! :P

yep and its rung true but i know it ll be jammed on friday and saturday i can envision myself having an overtime on saturday EH so will be heading to the movies itself in 2 weeks can't wait!!!

The tripods looked so frickin' realistic... I actually got goosebumps from the sight of the first tripod appearing onto the screen! I'm not easily impressed by special effects in almost all of the movies, not even the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The last movie I was impressed with was the T-Rex in Jurassic Park and that was over 10 years ago.

I guess they really don't need blue screen after all. This movie blended a lot of special effects with the filmed scenes. They obviously didn't use the blue screen in most scenes. Amazing stuff, I tell you!

Steven Spielberg has high standards when it come to visual effects in his movies. This one definitely pushed the envelope! Yes, the special effects were better than Star Wars: Episode III where almost nothing looked realistic, you could tell they were computer generated. But in War of the Worlds, you couldn't really tell right away. But it's obvious that they did use computer-generated models because I don't think they would build life-sized models of the tripods! :)

This has to be seen on the biggest screen possible to get the thrills! I can't imagine getting the same thrills from watching on a TV set. Thank god that I have a digital projector... can't wait for the DVD!

However, I must warn these who experienced 9/11 to avoid this movie if they are unable to cope with seeing people killed by the aliens, and yes... there are a lot of destruction in the movie. There were very 9/11ish elements in it.

However, the movie is simply amazing.

Last April, I went to Hollywood-Universal Studios in L.A. They had the set where they filmed War of the Worlds. It is a tiny set yet looked so realistic. There was a real airplane that looked like it crashed into the ground. Debris was scattered all over. I got goosebumps as it seemed so real. I couldnt wait to get out of the set. Im awed that Spielberg was able to film the entire movie around that small set and use a lot of realistic computer images to make it look much more bigger, etc.

I will not watch the movie however as it is toooooo close to truth for me. I know it is just a movie but it will touch a lot of peoples buttons so to speak. But yes, this speaks a volume for Spielberg's brilliance.

He did film some on the set, but a large amount of the movie was filmed outdoors somewhere in Northern California from what I believe. They managed to blend the tripods into these filmed scenes without using a lot of blue screen.

I understand completely, I have some friends who I think shouldn't bother with this movie at all due to their tragic experiences surrounding 9/11 and more. It's too close the truth like you said. I even came close to shredding a tear, but forced myself not to. I'm not a big fan of crying in public, I just don't like the attention, lol.

Tonight me and roomie went out to watch the movie and I have to say this...

Spielberg is a GENIUS! Even with no OC, I was in suspense during the whole movie! If H G Wells came back to life and went to see the movie, I guarantee you that he would have a twinkle in his eye after watching the latest and modern interpretation of his novel that the film is based upon.

OOoooh I can't wait to see this movie that I haven't seen yet which will show with open captioning in local theater on August 9th or 10th!!!

I already saw War of the Worlds, (new one) that movie is awesome and there isn't much talking, so much action! I will see the DVD version when it release, I already understand the movie. :) I already also saw the old War of the Worlds that was made in the 1950's. :D

I went to the movie theather with my mom and my brother to watch that was okay movie to me.

Special effects RAWK....wow...the bit where the lady on the street got vaporized freaked the shit out of me! Does anyone know if the part that was flilmed in the field was supposed to be set in NJ? I think that would have been a hysterically clever homage....you know to Orsen Wells? Also liked the baseball scene where the dad was wearing a Yankees cap and the son was wearing a Red Sox cap!

Some scenes were filmed inside a soundstage, but some were filmed outside. I believe the field was filmed outside somewhere in Northern California. But the scenes where the red weed were all over the ground was filmed inside the soundstage.
