Wal-mart destroys forests of trees, also causes lots of sprawl. Wal-mart is very bad when it comes to environment-wise, same goes to other big box stores, too.

Oh yes Wal-mart is very bad!

Don't you forget if you get fired at Wal-mart, and you will not get a job at any of the Wal-mart that you love to work? That's because you signed the contract before you get the job. Also, Wal-mart is the destroyer that ruin many environment.

i know most of you are complaing and i don't know if you all are a former walmart employee? of so... what happen?
i've seen many people working for more than 10 years are enjoying working there.. i enjoy working there and i get 3 weeks paid vacation yearly, since my sick pay is on maxinum of 192 hours.. after that it transfer to personal time pay.. and it just keep raising every pay check. so therefore i get alot of time off with pay and i love that part! :D

the only thing i hate about walmart is... too crowded!

MLD- I take that 50 cents offer is because team leader isn't a big responsibility.. its just the same task i do.. all i do is make sure the workers are working, comfortable and know what to do. i cannot fire them, i cannot write them up. this is only if my supervisor is gone for the day. so basically its about 2 or 3 days a week.

and yes i remember there's a Deaf woman who's a management at walmart. but she no longer work for walmart (i remember its in this alldeaf somewhere)

yes i'm aware that store manager earns a thick bonus.... just remember they're college degree.. they go to college for 6 years to become store manager.. and they suffer working 60 to 80 hours a week. even on weekends.

I despised unions. I really cannot stand it when they disrupt the commerce simply by going on strike and make life very difficult for everybody else. Airlines strikes either cancel all flights or it's severly cut back to wreck havoc in the airports. Shipping strikes that happened a last year or two that caused massive disruption and hundreds/thousands of ships stranded in the ports and sea because none of the ships could be loaded and unloaded and stores and factories was effected and some cases the company had to lay off people because because the shipment never arrived for them to make money.

Unions :rifle: :madfawk:

Why change Walmart?

Here's my famous quote... "If it ain't broken, don't fix it!" ;)

On the other note, Wal-mart is the richest corporation in the world in revenues they earn all year. The most recent yearly revenue is about $260 billion! It's way a lot of money, even more than oil corporations. :P

Not just Wal-mart. Most stores sell made-in-Asia products.

I strongly believe to support unions since Wal-Mart destorying many pop and mom businesses.
Do you mean that if Wal-mart was unionized they would no longer destroy mom-and-pop businesses? How would unions change that?

Do you think union stores don't "ruin many environment" too?

Excellent points...Wal-Mart would probably accept the new unionized members if the Wal-Mart employees vote majority. They would stop building new units. Then anyone can easily start the pop and mom business. That's why we need to see more deaf proprietors. If you strongly support Wal-mart, you would be very happy to see some of the business stores closing. What happened to Hallmark stores? Small specialized toy stores plus FAO Schwarz's and some of Kayabee and ToyRus. Reba, are you happy for Wal-Mart that you would be sadly to see your favorite shops going out of business, such as Goldiva, Victoria's Secerts, Bath & Body, West 9, Payless Shoes, ete? Are you really really really happy to shop at Wal-Mart for your lifetime? When you shop at Wal-Mart, don't forget to smile just like :) at Wal-Mart.

Please explain why Wal-mart would quit building new stores as a result of unionization.

That's why we need to see more deaf proprietors.
Why do you think unionization would create more deaf proprietors?

Those are not my favorite stores. I have never even been in any of them except Payless Shoes (one time). I have never heard of West 9. So, I guess I will not miss them.

BTW, none of the above are mom-and-pop stores; they are all national chain stores.

There are many small "upscale" stores in our area. They are not threatened by Wal-mart. The truth is, the people who shop in the small specialized, upscale stores are not going to be tempted away by Wal-mart. There will always exist snob appeal and class shopping. If someone wants to buy items from Sak's or Tommy Bahamas, they aren't going to go to Wal-mart, unions are not.

Wal-mart is almost everywhere. Wal-mart owners pushes town hall committees to let them to develop there so that the town charge them for more taxes to relief homeowners. But, it doesn't work that way because homeowners still have to pay more taxes for school supplies, etc. (A factory pays taxes in 1/3 or less.)

Usually, IRS allows any big brand-new companies tax-free for three years in order to grow and hire new employees to work for the company. That's a little dirty business.

Wal-mart, CVS, and other companies are supposed to take over unused building instead of fresh nature property where wild animals live there. Many unused companies are still available for any company owner to purchase them. I don't understand them or what are the owners thinking about - perhaps IRS issue.

Another reason for environment, did you notice that there are not many farmers in Eastern states? In future, we depend other countries for food. Someday, Wal-mart will be added in food market from another country. That's something that you have to think about.

i think you miss something here...

WALMART and SAMS CLUB HELPS the mom and pop stores.. how?

many business restruant owners, etc etc.. shop at walmart or sams club... i've always seen many small mom and pop business come and shop at walmart for huge load of milk, huge load of paper towels, huge load of pen, papers, craft supplies.

restruant owners buy huge load of milk, eggs, steak, etc, etc.. because its affordable and they sell them at restruant by making food with them, and they make profit etc...

Hallmark isn't mom and pop stores.. its a large chain store.. and in fact wal-mart sells hallmark cards. hallmark sales rep comes in walmart and fill cards, etc..

mom and pop stores, restruant IS a TERM of family owned.. and many mom and pops depend on SAMS club or CostCO mainly because of bulk things for CHEAP.

I would say that Sam's Club is good for restaurant/shop owners to buy what they need for their business. But, Wal-mart is very different...

Look at the benefits workers have with unions

Unions are making a difference. With most of the economic benefits of our economy going to corporate America, working people are using the power of collective action to get their fair share.

Workers never got anything without uniting for it.

The 40-hour workweek
The 8-hour workday
Overtime
Sick Leave
Paid Vacation
Employer-paid health insurance
Pensions
Safety and health protections
Grievance procedure for wrongful discharge and discipline
Fairness in promotions
Higher wages

Imagine life without unions.
