Volenteer Jobs

In past I volunterred to help the multi handicapped kids and adults how to do their swimming lesson or exercise in the pool, floor exercises with my assistant and taught the asl course with the deaf audium child. They gave me an exception experirence without getting a pay. What s a good challenge for me to learn is a worthwhile. I don't greed for the money if the kids are desperated for our help to volunteer.

Oh really ! I always wanted to volunteer at CHAD
but it's too far in Calif. I never had the chance
to visit CHAD and see what it looked like, etc.
 
Thats great about you moondancer, I used to do the same thing with multi handicapped kids & adults back when I was in high school. Before high school I used to make fun of them w/ my so-called WTF-Ever prepy friends. Then went to high school & then was found that I had ADHD & was put in special Education classes. Amazing how all my old friends turned their backs on me. Guess I found out who my real friends were then. But either way karma struck me good & had a very good wake up call my freshman year. So many fights with my old friends. & When I saw them make fun of other people I made fun of them so loud saying things & embarrassing them..LoL funny on how they walked away like that...

But anyways I believe it was my 2nd semester in freshman, I started working with the motionally handicapped kids. I was very amazed working with them & having that experience. I really enjoyed that. Although it was a very easy credit in high school. But I decided & asked on my study hall period to go work with them all the time & they let me with out getting a credit. I did that at least 2 or 3 times a day all the way through my senior year. When something was going on I was let out of class to help out. I felt sorry for alot of that I worked with. But showed them I cared so much through out the years in HS. I miss doing that. Now I don't have much time to do volunteer work. But I would if I ever got that chance:)

You can have a job and earn money and do the volunteer outside of your job. Volunteer is a great way to expeirence helping out lot of things. Dont be such a greedy person for crying out loud.

There are a non profit orginazation that would like to have a volunteer that you can help out and not only that I am sure ppl will look up to you for your work and pride.

I am not a greedy person.

There are alots of people who will do volunteer work.

I prefer to get paid for my work.

Some people enjoy volunteer work and Some people enjoy getting paid to work.
 
I just wish that I have time to do the volunteer job but unfortunately i just dont have time to do them. However , in oncea while , i usually help out my mom at her work . She works at old home so I help her with carrying old people around. Stink job but hey its always good thing that whenever you can help your parents out.

CHAD is nice place.... now they have vp too... i love to go there helping elderlys...
 
I just visited CHAD after 6 years absent! It had changed since then. My friend work there over night and I stayed for a bit. I was curious what it looks like hee!

Yes! They got VP! I am glad that few willing to use it to keep them busy.

than just one VP so that way
others do NOT have to wait in a long line for
only one VP ??

How many deaf retirees there ?
Historically, Who founded this CHAD ? Any photo ?

IF I am over 60, then I would want to move and
live near Deaf Retirees something like a home
BUT I do NOT know how much it cost etc ?

As far I know.. it has about 10 retirees there.. one of them are my classmate..you might know her sister teaching at Gally...
 
Friend told me that only 2 or 3 would use the VP the rest refused to touch it!

It is very nice place, FYI. Quiet inside, there are few stores nearby. You can use bus or walk.

Ummm I'll have to ask my friend that work at CHAD..he know how many residents are living there now. I think 15.

Ive visited CHAD several years back and a friend worked there a few years before moving away. Another friend had a stroke and have no place to go so CHAD took her in for a month until she got well and found a place to go. Her Medicare paid for everything. :) Its a nice place--sorry I dont have much info.
There is another retirement place at GLAD in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles county). I don't know much about this place but I think its open now--hopefully GLAD does not mess up finances again.

Nah, I doubt that I would know anybody there
because I have been out of touch with Gally lately

depends on whoever runs it now. I recalled meeting
Marcella Myers in person (former GLAD Executive)
only one or 2 times many years ago
She seem to be so much cool and FUN to party around with.

Which is better CHAD or LA Eagle Rock ?
