Not nessarily................I know late deafies who are interested in ASL and the Deaf community.
 
Heh seems the Deafness is stepping closer and closer to the future.

And to make sure that: 1. We notice them. 2. We notice that they are making asses out of themselves in order to obtain attention.

I have no pity cuz I suffered enough in the hands of the oralists..maybe it is time for them to suffer and see what it is like to try to be "heairng" with a hearing loss.

You know, shel, you and I agree on so much of this that it is frightening! Except you call them "oralists." I call them "hearies," which is something they absolutely hate! I don't have any pity, either, and as the saying goes, what comes around, goes around. They are getting what they deserve and they are all "crocodile tears" when they get the news that they're going deaf and they try and do what Rush Limbaugh did, by getting a cochlear implant.

I know! Maybe, they should focusing on the laws for hard-of-hearing
need to have an accessibility for captioning, CART captioning, etc, etc, etc.

We could think of ANYTHING to promote for the deaf people. :P
 
I do agree with what your saying here 100% these people just bring it on them selves I see it everyday like landscaperes running those loud weedeaters and no hearing protection. You see idiots in jobs all the time and people with the loud cars you can just feel the bass and they don't think long term of the damage there causing to them selvese. I am a late deafend adult but lost my hearing to Meniere's Disease but I do want to be apart of the deaf community and learn ASL im learning how to lipread and I get by with it but its not enough. I would like to use sign in my home with my wife its to hard reading lips at a distance plus I grow tired of it. My hearing loss was no choice of mine but what these people are doing to them selves I have no pitty for them either its a choice they made. The way I look at it if the want to be self distructive let them and the more of them that go deaf or HOH maybe the prices of hearing aids and cochlear implant will come down because of it.
