Maybe not.... Loud noises aren't enough to cause severe to profound deafness. That is why I said only hearing aid store owners.
I lost most of mine in the military-occupational hazard, but I am being helped by the Veterans Administration. One thing they meantioned in the article that cought my attention was the depression part. I too suffer from depression because of my hearing loss but I am looking for natural ways to heal or fix it without becoming dependant on medication, so far I have mixed results. What are your thoughts on this?
Depression is often secondary to the adjustment to any form of disability. It is a part of the adjustment process and the life changes that are inherent. Generally, medication is not necessary to treat this, as it is considered to be situational, not clinical, depression.
Have you tried support groups? Since the VA is handling your case, have they assigned you a rehab counselor familiar with hearing loss?

Whatever makes these late deafened people happy, great! Why not!
I know that these people wouldnt be interested in ASL and the Deaf community and that's ok. It is the deaf babies that I worry about...
Thanks, I forgot about that option. I did ask the audioligists(spelling?) if he know of any support grouips and he said he would get back to me.
