Ultrasound is required before abortion is approved?!

I guess you are the kind to take everything literally. It is meant to be taken as another way that he is so adorable. Sometimes, not everything is meant to be taken so literally. I knew what they meant and we laugh about it.

Why do you laugh about it? Don't you care about your child's feelings???

They arent saying that to him.

This is how it goes..

I introduce someone to my son.

Other person "Oh he is so cute..I could just adopt him!"

me "Thanks but he is mine..hahaha"

Like others

Ohters" Your son is sooo adorable! Can I take him home?"

Me "Sorry, he is taken."

Like bantering around knowing that they arent serious.

If it was like this

Others "I am interested in adopting your son."

Now, that would be weird.

Oh for petesake. I was just being facetious. I guess I just got a warped sense of humor. Oh well.

It was hard with Reba being serious about it. Either that or I am just mentally dead this morning.

People tell me they want to adopt my son all the time. He's a charm.

Humpph. Over my dead body. (Though it's nice to hear your child is so wanted.)

I was nearly kidnapped @ 18 mos old because I was a sweet, happy baby. Mom & I were shopping in the grocery store. I was in my little stroller with Mom standing right next to me looking for whatever she needed to buy. Her attention was diverted, and this lady came up saying something along the lines of "Oh, what a cute baby", and started to walk off with me.

I wonder what would have happened if things weren't interrupted and this lady got me "home" and the discovered I couldn't walk? I'll never know, but I'm grateful Mom was able to get me back safely!

pfh:

Ocean: Well, I'm going to assume that woman was a little  .

How did this thread about ultrasounds turn into a thread about adopting black babies? Oh, I know. Attention hound.

So does this mean every time a thread is derailed here on alldeaf, it's because of an attention hound?

Whoa. Dial down the sarcasm, please.

It is NOT a huge a leap to go from this discussion to adopting as it does relate.

I wasn't even the first to mention adoption, but that's OK. It's a perfectly logical and productive conversation to have. :) I knew there were barriers to adoption, but I didn't give it considerable thought like I did last night until Reba brought up some points. Doesn't change my opinion about this law, but there's no shame in respecting people who have different viewpoints than you.

Ok, I'll apologize (sincerely) for the attention hound comment. I will say, however, that I was not the first to call her out for derailing threads, and it still continued. Anyway, I suppose we all have been guilty of derailing some threads at some point or another. Let's end this with this post because I don't want to derail this thread any further. Let's get back to the original topic. :)

You had nothing to apologize for. Don't let people bully you into feeling like that.

Back to the original topic, I had a medically urgent abortion and was required to have 2 ultrasounds before it could be done. My insurance company required them to be sure that the doctor was being factual about the need for it. This was back in 1992. Everything was done all on the same day and hubby was told to be prepared in case I did not survive. Luckily, all was well and I went on to have 2 children.

That's no fun. :( Maybe because insurance companies don't want to pay for it? I'm sorry that happened.

Well - this company also did not want to have to pay for my C-Section either, but oh well. I had 2 "humongo" babies. No way were either of them gonna be natural deliveries.

She wasn't bullied, nor was she sincere. It's okay, Alex.

OK, now, I'm calling YOU out.

She may have been. Listen, we're all very opinionated. I like you both, but, this backbiting needs to stop. It's not necessary and it will either <a> Get this thread closed or <b> get people banned, or <c> all of the above.

Lets just get back on topic, please...
